Dear lybrate-user PCOS is a very common hormonal abnormality. So not to worry. All you need to do for achieving pregnancy is to take medications for egg development from the second day of your period and follow it up with follicular monitoring to ensure that the dose of medication you are taking is sufficient enough for egg development. Good luck.

Hi doctor, I want to sex with my wife to anal for long time without paining her. Is there's any risk while doing anal sex how to do it safely?

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry

There is no safeway of doing annual sex as it is an unnatural way of inter course, rather a perversion. Anal sex can cause trauma to the anal canal, fissures and infections to your partner. It's best to avoid it.

Significance of Sexual Health

MS sexuality, M.Phil Clinical Psychology, PhD (behaviour modification), Certified in Treatment of Resistant Depression
Sexologist, Hyderabad
Significance of Sexual Health

Does a struggle with mental illness mean losing one’s cherished sexuality? No, it certainly doesn’t. But many people struggle far more than necessary because they don’t have the information and support they need to address the challenges that can arise around sex and mental well-being.

Sex is a matter for mind

We often think of sex as something our bodies are doing, but a lot of our sex life takes place in our brains. It’s important to realize that, for all genders, our thoughts and feelings play a vital role in getting us turned on and keeping us that way.

Anxiety or depression can strongly affect arousal and can definitely ruin the mood sometimes. Anxiety and other related mental health struggles can make it hard to be relaxed enough to have or enjoy sex, overshadowing it with a host of worries or intrusive distractions. When we are very unwell and struggling just to function, sex is rarely at the top of our mind.

The struggle with mental illness in a variety of forms can hurt a person’s self-esteem and make them feel unworthy of sexual attention. For example, a person may have an unrealistic view of their own body and may actively seek to deny or discipline the body as a way of coping. In these cases, it’s important to be critical of the beauty norms we are shown by the media, step away from the practice of measuring or defining ourselves, and to seek to rediscover our love and appreciation for our bodies and our sexual selves.

Substance use may put limitations or restrictions upon one’s sexual interest. Some drugs can affect your brain in ways that make you less able to feel pleasure from sex for periods of time after their use.

Substance use can be a problem when it leads to sexual behaviours one may not feel proud of. Under the influence of drugs, you may do things that you regret, such as having sex with someone you wouldn’t have while sober, or doing things you normally might be uncomfortable with; such as being filmed or photographed during sex, or having sex in public spaces. These personal-boundary transgressions can lead to shame and loss of self-esteem and cause conflict in relationships.

Additionally, addiction or mental health problems like mania may be associated with intentionally seeking risky situations such as having unprotected sex with strangers or seeking ever escalating levels of violence, humiliation, and bodily harm (both in real life and in the pornography one is consuming). This can impact a person’s ability to find interest in having sex with their steady partner, because the sought-after thrill or risk is no longer present.

When you become an ally to your partner and deepen your communication, your sex life is certain to benefit. Great sex is often based on great connection, and by working on your communication you are nurturing that connection.

We are all entitled to knowledge about our sexuality and that good scientific knowledge about sex is necessary for us to be able to make informed sexual choices. By educating ourselves, whether we are young or old, we can make sex better for everyone.

We all have a right to enjoy and appreciate our sexuality. Do your best to not let mental illness steal that away from you and the ones you love!

Fix These 3 Common Posture Blunders that can Permanently Damage Your Body

Orthopedist, Gurgaon
Fix These 3 Common Posture Blunders that can Permanently Damage Your Body
Improve Your Posture Before it’s too Late

A good posture makes you stand tall. The right body posture is crucial for a healthy and strong, disease-free body. A correct body posture can help to alleviate all kinds of problems that might arise due to the practice of wrong posture such as chronic neck pain, back pain, and headache among others. Here’s how to avoid some of the common posture blunders:

1. Hunchback

You may know that sitting for long hours is bad for your health, but sitting hunched over the computer screen is especially harmful for your spine. When you’re in this posture, the chest muscles of your body tighten causing the top of the spinal column to form a C-shape. This can lead to pain in the back, shoulder and neck. To prevent your spine from curving in this manner, you can do the bhujangasana pose to strengthen your back.

2. Forward head

Likewise, sitting in a stooped manner in front of the computer can cause the problem of forward head and associated neck pain. Performing head nods on a daily basis can provide respite from the ache. For this, move your head towards the neck until your chin touches your neck. Hold on to this position for 5 seconds before going back to your original position. Repeat as needed.

3. Rounded shoulders

Intense training of the chest muscles or typing while not sitting straight can cause your shoulders to swivel forward, leading to rounded shoulders. This can prevent your arms from working at their full capacity while running or hamper your breathing ability while performing strenuous activities. One of the ways that you can fix this postural blunder is by doing some stretching exercises to relax your chest muscles. This workout can be easily done anywhere, as all you need is a doorway. Position your arms against one side of the doorway with your elbows bent at 90 degrees. Then, stretch your chest and shoulder muscles by placing your foot through the doorway. Hold the posture for about 30 seconds Whether your postural problem is mild or severe, it can affect your overall health and performance.

Wrong posture can cause you to experience skeletal system disorders such as kyphosis (outward curving of the spine) or lordosis (inward curving of the spine). If not corrected in time, the wrong body posture can also impact your self-confidence.

Recently I got marry i'm planning to have a kids after 2 years suggest me what can I do.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Recently I got marry i'm planning to have a kids after 2 years suggest me what can I do.
Menstrual cycle begins on the first day of your period and continues up to the first day of your next period. Most fertile is at the time of ovulation, (when an egg is released from your ovaries) which usually occurs 12-14 days before next period starts. It is important to remember that sperm can sometimes survive in the body for up to seven days after sex. This means that it may be possible to get pregnant soon after your period finishes if you ovulate early, especially if you have a naturally short menstrual cycle. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26days) minus18days=8th day. The longest cycle (31days) minus 10days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period. you should try to have intercourse during those fertile days to get pregnant early.

Reduce High Creatinine Levels with 10 Best Home Remedies

Ayurveda, Delhi
Reduce High Creatinine Levels with 10 Best Home Remedies

Home Remedies to Reduce High Creatinine Levels

Creatinine is a chemical waste product of muscle metabolism that is eliminated through the kidneys. Persistently high levels of creatinine indicate that the kidneys may not be functioning properly. The normal range of creatinine in blood is:

  • 0.6 to 1.2 mg/dL (or 53 to 106 mcmol/L) for males, and

  • 0.5 to 1.1 mg/dL (or 44 to 97 mcmol/L) for females.

The values may vary slightly depending on different laboratories and their techniques. Men usually have higher levels than women because creatinine increases with muscle mass.

Factors that contribute to high creatinine levels include dehydration or inadequate water intake; medications like ACE inhibitors, NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen, chemotherapy drugs and others; strenuous exercise; chronic diseases like kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and thyroid disorders; kidney problems; and excessive blood loss.

Muscle building, taking the dietary supplement creatine and eating large amounts of meat can also elevate creatinine levels.

Some common symptoms of high creatinine are digestive problems like nausea, vomiting and poor appetite; fatigue; urinary changes like frequent night urination, decreased urine output and dark colored urine; edema; itchy skin; and shortness of breath.

As high creatinine levels may indicate kidney problems and kidney damage, it is best to see your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

In addition, you can try some home remedies and dietary tips to help manage the problem. Drinking plenty of water, for instance, is highly recommended when dealing with this problem.

Also, there are some herbs that act as natural diuretics and thus help provide some relief. You can follow one or more of these herbal remedies daily for a few weeks or until your creatinine levels are reduced.

It is important to consult a healthcare professional before taking these herbs or their combinations because they may interfere with certain prescription drugs or may not be suitable for some cases. Some of these remedies may not be suitable for those with a history of kidney stones or other pre-existing conditions.

Here the top 10 home remedies to reduce high creatinine levels.

1. Chamomile Tea

A study published in the Journal of Agriculture Food Chemicals found decreased creatinine levels in study participants who drank chamomile tea. Plus, this herb will work as a mild sedative and induce relaxation.

  1. Put two or three teaspoons of dried chamomile flowers in a cup of hot water.

  2. Let it steep for three to five minutes.

  3. Strain the tea and drink it.

  4. Drink a few cups of chamomile tea daily.

2. Stinging Nettle

Stinging nettle can help remove metabolic wastes and promote renal excretion due to its diuretic properties. Plus, it purifies the blood and improves immunity.

  1. Add two to three teaspoons of dried nettle leaves to a cup of hot water.

  2. Let it steep for 10 minutes.

  3. Strain and drink it.

  4. Drink this nettle tea once or twice daily.

Note: This remedy can interfere with blood-thinning, high blood pressure, diuretic and diabetic medications. Consult your doctor before using this remedy.

3. Dandelion Root

Dandelion root tea also works as a natural diuretic to flush out toxins and lower creatinine levels. It also helps improve kidney function and relieve edema or swelling due to water retention.

  1. Put one tablespoon of dried dandelion root powder in a cup of hot water.

  2. Allow it to steep for about 10 minutes.

  3. Strain and drink it.

  4. Drink this tea two or three times daily for a few days or weeks.

Note: Dandelion may interact with diabetes and high blood pressure medications.

4. Cinnamon

Due to its diuretic properties, cinnamon is considered good for those suffering from high creatinine levels and kidney problems. It helps increase kidney output and promotes renal filtration ability. It also helps regulate blood sugar levels, thus preventing further renal damage.

Incorporate cinnamon in your diet by adding it to warm beverages, smoothies, baked goods, cereals and other foods.

Note: Do not take this herb in excess or it may lead to liver and kidney damage. Though there is no established dosage still, the generally recommendation is one-half to one teaspoon of cinnamon a day.

5. Siberian Ginseng

Siberian ginseng containing eleutheroside compounds is mostly used as a health supplement for its energy-boosting properties. It is also an effective remedy to get rid of excess creatinine because it revitalizes the kidneys and promotes renal circulation. Plus, you’ll get its anti-fatigue and anti-stress benefits.

The general recommended dosage for this herb is 300 to 600 mg per day. For proper dosage and suitability for your condition, consult your doctor. It can also be taken with cinnamon.

Note: Do not confuse Siberian ginseng with other types of ginseng, especially Asian ginseng which has an anti-diuretic effect. Seek your doctor’s advice before taking Siberian ginseng because it may interfere with many prescription drugs.

6. Astragalus

Astragalus is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine that helps slow the progression of chronic kidney disease. It works as a mild diuretic and helps improve creatinine levels. It contains a diuretic compound called asparagine that helps eliminate fluid through the kidneys. This herb also strengthens metabolism and digestion.

  1. Boil a handful of dried astragalus root slices in one quart of water for 30 minutes.

  2. Strain and drink the tea.

  3. Drink this daily between meals.

Note: Those who have autoimmune diseases should consult a doctor before taking this herb as it may stimulate the immune system.

7. Corn Silk

Corn silk acts as a natural diuretic and anti-inflammatory agent. It helps increase urine output, thus aiding in removing excess creatinine. It also reduces edema and lowers high blood pressure.

  1. Put two teaspoons of dried corn silk in a cup.

  2. Pour boiling water over it.

  3. Cover and allow it to steep for 10 to 15 minutes.

  4. Strain and drink this tea three times a day.

Note: Do not use this remedy if you are allergic to corn or have a history of liver or kidney disease. It may also decrease blood sugar and potassium levels.

8. Sage

Salvia officinalis, commonly known as sage, has been found to be beneficial in increasing the rate at which creatinine is removed in kidney failure patients because it helps filter out and eliminate creatinine from the body. It also increases circulation to the kidneys.

  1. Add one teaspoon of dried sage or 10 fresh leaves to a cup of hot water.

  2. Let it steep for five to 10 minutes.

  3. Strain and drink this tea one to three times a day.

Note: Avoid this remedy if you have diabetes or a history of liver or kidney disease.

9. Chinese Rhubarb

Chinese rhubarb promotes intestinal detoxification and increases urine output. It lowers creatinine levels by increasing the excretion of metabolic waste products including creatinine. It also improves kidney function.

  1. Chop a stalk of Chinese rhubarb.

  2. Boil it in a cup of water.

  3. Strain and drink it twice daily for up to a week.

Note: Do not take this herb if you have a history of kidney stones.

10. Barley

Barley water works as a natural diuretic and kidney cleanser. It also helps reduce blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels and treat nephrocalcinosis. Being rich in fiber, barley helps reduce blood sugar levels and improves digestion as well. Plus, it has a high nutritive value due to its rich vitamin and mineral content.

  1. Add one cup of barley in one liter or about four cups of water.

  2. Boil the solution for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Strain and drink it slowly.

  4. Drink it daily.

As barley is a whole grain, you can also replace refined flour in your diet with barley flour.

Note: Check with your doctor before taking this remedy as it may not be suitable for those on a potassium restricted diet.

Additional Tips

  • Increase your water and fluid intake.

  • Replace your regular tea, coffee or sodas with herbal tea.

  • Avoid eating high protein foods, dairy products and other dietary sources of creatine until your creatinine levels reduce to normal.

  • Steer clear of high arginine foods like seafood, chocolate, gelatin, beer, soybeans, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and other nuts and seeds because they tend to increase the liver’s production of creatine.

  • Reduce minerals like sodium, potassium and phosphorus in your diet.

  • Include more carrots, cucumbers, garlic, onion and foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.

  • Avoid strenuous activity as it promotes the breakdown of creatine into creatinine.
