There are various causes for mouth ulcers: *diet *deficiency *irritating fillings *stress/ allegries *late night *wisdom tooth *broken teeth etc. You need to find out the exact cause. It could be one of the above. You need to see your nearest dentist at your earliest. Till then you can apply this gel called rexidin m forte on the affected area twice a day.

If there is black colour or part of tooth is fractured go for root canal treatment and capping of the tooth. For your molar tooth if it erupting in wrong manner go for removal of tooth or if it is in erupting proper manner go for doctor inperson.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Goggle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Dear ones,
Tooth brushes should not be kept near a toilet, the airborne particles from a flush can travel upto 6 ft so it can easily contaminate the tooth brush which is bad for oral health.
Take care, regards

Sensitive Teeth

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Is the taste of ice cream or a sip of hot coffee sometimes a painful experience for you? Does brushing or flossing make you cry out occasionally? If so, you may have sensitive teeth.
Possible causes include:
• Tooth decay (cavities)
• Fractured teeth
• Worn fillings
• Gum disease
• Worn tooth enamel
• Exposed tooth root
In healthy teeth, a layer of enamel protects the crowns (the part above the gum line )of your teeth. Under the gum line a layer called cementum protects the tooth root. Underneath both the enamel and the cementum is dentin.
Dentin is less dense than enamel and cementum and contains microscopic tubules (small hollow tubes or canals). When dentin loses its protective covering of enamel or cementum these tubules allow heat and cold or acidic or sticky foods to reach the nerves and cells inside the tooth. Dentin may also be exposed when gums recede. The result can be hypersensitivity.
Sensitive teeth can be treated. The type of treatment will depend on what is causing the sensitivity. Your dentist may suggest one of a variety of treatments:
• Desensitizing toothpaste. This contains compounds that help block transmission of sensation from the tooth surface to the nerve, and usually requires several applications before the sensitivity is reduced.
• Fluoride gel. An in-office technique which strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the transmission of sensations.
• A crown, inlay or bonding. These may be used to correct a flaw or decay that results in sensitivity.
• Surgical gum graft. If gum tissue has been lost from the root, this will protect the root and reduce sensitivity.
• Root canal. If sensitivity is severe and persistent and cannot be treated by other means, your dentist may recommend this treatment to eliminate the problem.
Proper oral hygiene is the key to preventing sensitive-tooth pain. Ask your dentist if you have any questions about your daily oral hygiene routine or concerns about tooth sensitivity.

Advise deep cleaning, polishing, whitening (bleaching) procedures, artificial enamel filling or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. Hi I am 34 weeks pregnant and yesterday noticed that there is cavity in my teeth and deep inside. Had been to dentist and doctor took X-ray and advice me for root canal. Since there is no pain and upon extra care can I postpone it till my delivery or is it better to get it done? As am worried about the safety of anesthesia and antibiotics and also just one month to go for delivery.

First of all there's no need to take medicines after root canal. Mild discomfort will be there but you can bare that as you don't want to take medicines.. We can't say exactly when it will start paining but ya if you'll keep that cavities free of food after meal and gargles property after every meal and brush twice a day specially just before sleep at night then surely you can slow down the progression of cavity. It will be better if you postpone the R.C.T. till your delivery. Have a warm wishes for tout upcoming baby. God Bless Her/Him... Jay Swaminarayan.

You have what is called as tmd i.e. your muscles are working excessively due to friction between your molars. You need to find a dentist who specialises in tmd. Who will either give you a splint or adjust your bite.
