I am suffering from acid reflux for two to three months. I consulted doctor and he prescribed firstly Esomeprazole & Levosulpiride Capsules, then Rabeprazole Sodium. I became fine for quite sometime but the situation became worse after sometime. Now I am suffering from acid reflux on daily basis. My mouth becomes sore. Throat irritation/burning. Voice becomes dull. For quite sometime I was using diluted (H2O2) to clean my teeth continuously for two to three months & I think, maybe this could also be one of the reasons behind my disease (Acid Reflux. I never had such kind of stomach problems any time before in my life. Pls help!

Acid reflux is a lifestyle disease. To cure it you have to modify your lifestyle otherwise you will get temporary relief when on medicine but basically it will not cure or even may worsen. You have to stop spicy fried sour junk food completely. You have to stop smoking, alcohol and tobacco chewing if you do. You can not take onion garlic mint clove cinnamon cardamom also. Avoid all food with spicy and sour gravy. Take small frequent meals instead of large heavy meals. Don't lie down for about 3 hours after meals. Stop h2o2 gargles. Consult gastroenterologist once if any investigation advised get it done.

My daughter is 10 years old, about few months back I got her rcd done. As per my last visit to our doctor he suggested to redo the rcd for permanent one. We did same. Now few days back my daughter complain of pain. When I check I found the root canal filling was not there & I can see the black spot (bare hollow root. Kindly suggest what to do now. And any other treatment for same.

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Noida
It seems that your treatment was not over. Absence of root canal filling suggests that final sitting of rct is still pending and this has lead to re infection of root canal space. She requires complete treatment.

I'm gradually losing enamel on my gums how to reduce it and what can I do for whiting of my teeth.

BDS
Dentist, Mohali
I'm gradually losing enamel on my gums how to reduce it and what can I do for whiting of my teeth.
If your gums are losing attachment to tooth surface then there may be calculus (hard stone like) deposits at gum line. You may need scaling (professional cleaning) and polishing of your teeth. Learn proper brushing technique also form your dentist. This will improve your oral hygiene and colour problem too. Remember permanent teeth are always yellowish white. So need not to worry much.

Dentist,
I am 30 years old. I feel sensation in my teeth when I drink cold drink.
The sensation in tooth is caused when tooth dentinal tubules r exposed to the air, 1, cha pressure while brushing to soft bristles toothbrush, change it every 3month, 2, use sensoform toothpaste for 15 days, stop use of other toothpaste vile using sensoform 3, before going to bed, put a thin layer of sensoform paste around the affected teeth, leave it overnight, and brush n the morning 4, when you brush n morning, first apply all over your teeth, wait for 2min, and then brush 5, use fluoridated mouthwash only for one month

How I get my teeth free from tartar what type of tooth brush should I use?

BDS
Dentist,
How I get my teeth free from tartar what type of tooth brush should I use?
Tartar has to be removed by complete scaling (cleaning) of teeth. Just a toothbrush can't help you to get rid of the tartar. Meanwhile you can use a toothpaste called snowdent (a product of indoco) before visiting a dentist. Though it may not help you much but it would be better to use it than other pastes.

First Aid For Common Tooth Injuries

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
First Aid For Common Tooth Injuries

A chipped or knocked out tooth can be a very painful condition. Tooth injuries are most often caused during a sports activity or when you take a nasty fall. And such accidents can hamper your general well-being, your ability to enjoy food, your appearance and your precious smile.

Different types of tooth injuries:

  1. A minor chip: A minor tooth fracture usually involves chipping of the enamel only
  2. A major chip: A deeper fracture can involve chipping of both the enamel and the dentin of a tooth
  3. A serious fracture that exposes the nerve and blood vessels in the centre of the teeth
  4. A fully displaced teeth: Here the tooth is forced upward, downward or to the side
  5. A knocked off teeth: One that lands in your hand or shatters in the ground after impact
  6. Trauma injuries: A more serious accident that involves head, neck and facial trauma
  7. Wear and tear: Cavities or chewing and biting on hard objects like pencils, ice cubes, or hard chocolates can also lead to tooth injury
  8. Fighting the fight: When 'I'll break your teeth' ceases to be an empty threat

How are tooth fractures treated?

Treatment depends on the extent of your fractures. A knocked out teeth can be re-implanted in many cases. A permanent tooth that is re-implanted within 30 minutes has the highest chance of success. Here's what you can do to save your tooth:

  1. Collect your broken tooth: Carefully collect the tooth fragments to not cause any additional damage which may prevent re-implantation. Avoid touching the root part of the tooth. Wash it gently in lukewarm water and keep it in a small bowl of milk. Avoid scrubbing or scraping to remove dirt.
  2. Reinsert your teeth if possible: Once you rinse your teeth, try to reinsert your teeth in the cavity. This may be a painful exercise, so proceed only if you think you can bear through it. You can store it between your cheek and gum to prevent drying or in a bowl of whole milk.
  3. Take care of yourself: If there is bleeding, give your mouth a good rinse to clear off the blood that is blocking the view. Identify the source of bleeding and press in with a sterile gauze or cloth.
  4. Give yourself a treat: This is a great way to get your mind off the pain and works wonders for children. Treat yourself with an ice lolly/ frozen pop to ease out the pain. If there is any cut on your gums or lips, another equally tasty home remedy is to cover it with sugar which will temporarily stop the bleeding and the sweetness will help you to forget the pain for the time being.
  5. Go to a dentist: Even if it is a minor chip, it is always advisable to see a dentist, as the cut may be sharp and can eventually end up hurting your tongue.

Your teeth need to last your lifetime, so take good care of them, especially when faced with an injury.

- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - have your dentures aligned as needed. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

I have a black spot between my front two teeth. I want to clear that. Please help.
All individuals requires scaling (cleaning) to be done atleast once in 6months to maintain our oral hygiene clean. Our toothbrush is not much finely designed to clean all the plaque and calculi in the interdental areas of the teeth, which is the area where most of the calculus accumulate much and has to be removed regularly using scalers by the dentist.

No if there is a cavity present, a clinical examination by the dentist is essential treatment can be decided after assessing how deep the cavities are. Treatment is very essential as if not done can worsen the condition of the tooth.
