Hi. May be there is something wrong with your immunity and vitality! There are few food which helps you in boosting up your memory power, increases focus & concentration, so try to take more of these: 1.Choline: Good sources of choline include liver, milk, eggs and peanuts. 2.Vitamin B: B vitamins are not synthesized in the body, and thus need to be obtained from food. B-complex vitamins are water-soluble vitamins, which means that they are not stored within the body. In consequence, the B vitamins need ongoing replenishment. Vitamin B1 (thiamine) rich sources include unrefined grain products, ready-to-eat cereals, meat (especially pork), dairy products, peanuts, legumes, fruits and eggs. Foods that contain high concentrations of vitamin B3 (niacin) in the free form include beans and organ meat, as well as enriched grain and cereal products. While niacin is present in corn and other grains, the bioavailability of the nutrient is much less than it is in protein-rich sources. The role of vitamin B9 (folic acid) during pregnancy is vital to normal development of the nervous system in the fetus. Good sources of folate include liver, ready-to-eat breakfast cereals, beans, asparagus, spinach, broccoli, and orange juice.Animal protein products are a good source of vitamin B12 (cobalamine), particularly organ meats such as kidney or liver. Other good sources are fish, eggs, and dairy products. 3.Vitamin A: The foods highest in Vitamin A are any pigmented fruits and vegetables and leafy green vegetables. 4.Zinc: Zinc is a very important part of the brain as well; many regions of the brain, such as the cerebellum, and hippocampus have neurons that contain this nutrient.Zinc is needed to maintain normal Vitamin A levels in blood plasma. Sources of zinc are meats, certain seafood, whole grains, baked beans, oatmeal, milk (low-fat), cashewnut, almonds, kidney-beans, cheese, peas, spinach, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine for increasing memory - Anacardium 200/ once daily.

There is no connection between eye twitching and something bad happening. Its just correlation sometimes and correlation is not causation.

Several epidemiological studies show that eating a Mediterranean diet dramatically reduces the risk of cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease. That means plenty of vegetables, beans, whole grains, fish, and olive oil—and limited dairy and meat.

I am mentally stressed last 1 year. Now I have tachycardia. How does tachycardia effect brain?
Dear lybrate-user. Tachycardia do not directly affect brain. Brain could be affected due to stress and anxiety associated with tachycardia. I think your tachycardia is due to stress and anxiety. Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. When a person fears about something now (which may or may not happen in the future) and if he do it repeatedly, it is called anxiety disorder. These fear provoking feelings are called anxiety and it may cause variety of physical symptoms, such as a racing heart, restlessness, helplessness and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you counseling and psychotherapy to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.

Dear sir/ madam I am a 46 years old unmarried guy with ocd (hand washing, preoccupied with cleanliness) I am jobless. I have worked for 3- 4 years at various concerns. Nowadays I find myself feeling tired easily, I get exhausted easily. I feel sleepy after having breakfast, food. I feel depressed also. I have lost my confidence which I hardly had in my past even. I cannot work among a group of people. I have social anxiety, inferiority complex, insecurities with appearance. I have a very very poor memory and I lack concentration. I am 46 and complaining like a college goer. I am ashamed of myself. I am good for nothing fellow. I am a useless fellow. I have worked at various concerns and I find people working and feeling normal like whereas I find myself in a miserable state unable to perform my job, unable to socialise, and then the other issues which I discussed before. I may commit suicide if my situation deteriorates. Is there anyone in this world who can help me without taking any fees. Rgds Monty.

MBBS, DPM

Dear lybrate-user, You have to take treatment for your hand washing obsessions. It needs long term high dose antidepressants by a psychiatrist. Recently mental health care bill was passed in loksabha. It states that mentally ill has a right for free treatment and care. Please go to the government hospital at Nashik and ask for psychiatrist. He/she will treat you free of cost. You have every right to ask for free treatment. Later you can ask for disability assessment since you are unable to earn or be in a job. With many years of OCD and no permanent job, you may qualify for 40% disability. That certification gives many benefits to you just like a blind person getting benefits. You can get job under disabled quota also. It may take 2-3 days of waiting and meeting relevant persons at government district hospital. Please make this efforts since OCD is a chronic disorder needing continuous long term treatment and care.

Overstressing Nature - How You Can Control It?

MBBS MD
Psychiatrist, Chandigarh
Overstressing Nature - How You Can Control It?

Do you have an overstressing nature? Do you have to deal with so many things in life that it leaves you overwhelmed and stressed out? Do you want to control this nature of yours so that you can get a better grip on your life? In today’s fast paced society and modern lifestyle, there are too many things which can make you feel overwhelmed. There are several ways, following which you can change your overwhelming nature and be at peace. The most important ones are as follows:

  1. Step out: If you are trapped in a place of overwhelming confusion, you can never get away from feeling overwhelmed. You need to step away and leave such situations and places in order to see your circumstances from a different and fresh perspective. You should do things like moving to a different room, going out for a walk, or stepping out from a certain conflict. This enables you to shift away from the situation you are in.
  2. Analyze what is important: When you are feeling overwhelmed, your mind becomes clouded by the work at hand, and by thoughts. This is what causes you stress. You have to think what the most important thing for you is while stepping out from an overwhelming situation. It is important for you to know how you want to feel. Focus on important things and the things which really concern you, instead of the overwhelming preoccupation.
  3. Avoid juggling thoughts: Usually, a lot of things go on inside your head when you are overwhelmed. Different thoughts, ideas, and perceptions clamp up in your mind, cluttering your mental space. You need to get rid of these thoughts for controlling your overwhelming nature. You can try writing down all these thoughts. This is an effective way of sorting your things out.
  4. Giving up control: It is important for you to realize that you cannot do everything just by yourself. There are many tasks which are doable alone, but it adds to your stress and triggers your overwhelming nature. You may think that you are not dependent on anyone and can manage everything yourself, but sometimes you should stop doing everything and focus only on the parts you enjoy. By taking assistance of others, you will be able to reduce your load, and concentrate on the things you love.
  5. Asking for help: You should start taking other people’s help instead of being too much self dependent. There are many people in the world who want to help, and by accepting it, you will only feel good in the end.

Another important thing to do for controlling over overstressing nature is to shut all noise which gets in the way of your peace. You should take a break to relax your mind in the most ideal way you like.

Your level of fear is extreme. You may check your prenatal history to examine for any contributing factors. Then meet with a counselor and work out this fear. You need to be in charge od your fear but in your case, it seems that fear is dominating you and is taking a heavy toll on your wellbeing. Some effective emotional therapy will do great justice to your health. These could be hysterical reactions to this undealt fear. You must immediately seek help from a counselor. Your fear is creating an obsession and that will gradually lead to anxiety and compulsive behaviors. Before it gets out of control and difficult to deal with seek help earlier, especially about this fear. If the fear is of recent origin, you could perhaps identify it and deal with it. But if it is from a long past, then much work has to be done to sort that out. Sometimes this kind of nervousness could be genetic too. In the meantime, you must do certain things to build your constitution physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Mental stability can be achieved by learning a few skills in handling emotions in an appropriate manner. Stress management skills, which have a lot to do with expressing emotions, will need to be a major part of your recovery program. Emotionally you need the help of a counselor and that will help you tremendously to move from anxiety to normal fear. Please persevere and cooperate through all the support you need and you will come through successfully. Develop your body’s health by physical fitness through exercise, good rest (sleep), and a proper diet. Anyway, what you need to focus on is to do vigorous exercise of the aerobic kind for the heart’s fitness; meditation for the brain’s fitness; sleep for a well rested mind and body; a sound spiritual well-being for good confidence and stability; and a diet with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Vigorous exercise, especially of the callisthenic kind, will make your heart, which is a muscle, grow larger; and then your heart will need to beat less often and you will respond to the anxiety with a calmer disposition. If your mind, constitution, and your emotions are in check and fit, you will never be disturbed again.

First understand this cycle stress/anxiety----sleep disturbance-----more stress/anxiety--- less sleep-----negative thoughts-----more anxiety so main thing is to reduce the stress/anxiety. You can try some ayurvedic medicines for the same:- make a paste of amla powder mixed in buttermilk. Apply it on front part of head. Keep it for at least 30 minutes. Take 1 tablet of manas mitra vatakam and 2 capsules of tagar twice a day with normal water. Spend some time with small children (3-7 years old) ans remember, one thoughts can't change anybody's destiny or future. Almighty has already written our screenplay/story, we just have to play our character. So our thoughts are not going to change anything whether good or bad. Can contact further if needed. Ready to help get well soon.

It's not like that you can't take both medication simultaneously. But there should be some reason to combine medications. If you have optimum dose of one drug than only you can go for combination therapy for same problem.
