Foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth. Tobacco use. Smoking or chewing tobacco can stain teeth. Poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing, flossing, and rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash to remove plaque and stain-producing substances like coffee and tobacco can cause tooth discoloration. Disease. Several diseases that affect enamel (the hard surface of the teeth) and dentin (the underlying material under enamel) can lead to tooth discoloration. The best treatment for swelling gums is to remove from your teeth the plaque bacteria that causes gum disease. When dental plaque builds up, it turns into tartar, a hard, sticky substance that adheres to your teeth. Without regular teeth cleanings, dental tartar can become a breeding ground for even more plaque, which can creep below the gum line and lead to an infection that causes swelling gums. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Hi teeth can be black may be because of two reasons like either tooth is dead or due to any staining. If tooth is dead rct is the option or any discolouration or staining then bleaching is the option. You need to be investigated and diagnosed for proper treatment plan.

Why Dental Implants Are Better Than Dentures

BDS, Diploma in Hospital Administration, Diploma in Pharmacy
Dentist, Delhi
Why Dental Implants Are Better Than Dentures
For centuries, the best option for those who had lost teeth was to have dentures fitted. However, thanks to advances in dentistry, more and more people are now choosing to have dental implants fitted instead. Fixed implants sit in position in your jaw and cannot normally be removed and reinserted in the same way dentures can. There are a number of reasons why implants beat dentures for those who need help with tooth loss.

Long lasting

Implants can last up to 20 years if high quality solutions are purchased. This is much longer than standard dentures are able to last for. If you choose dentures, you may be forced to visit the dentist again and again to have your dentures renewed. If you do not look after your dentures properly, they can degrade quickly and become unusable.

Stability

Unlike dentures, dental implants sit in a fixed position in your mouth. Because they are often not permanent, dentures can rock or shift in position. This can make eating less comfortable, especially if you want to eat something which is crunchy or harder. Because they may be unstable, it can put unnatural and uneven pressures on some areas of your mouth. However, this is much less of a problem with dental implants, as they are fixed in position. Because they are fixed, you also don't have to worry about them falling out when talking or eating, which means that you can avoid some embarrassing situations.

Comfort

Dental implants are often fitted with comfort in mind. Rather than transferring the force of chewing to your gums, as some dentures can do, implants transfer the force of chewing to your jaw bone. Natural teeth transfer the force to your jaw as well, so this is the most comfortable solution. Food is also much less likely to get trapped under these implants, due to the way that they are fitted into your jaw. This contrasts with removable dentures, which food often gets stuck underneath.

Oral health

Wearing dentures can worsen receding gums and speed up the degradation of your jaw bone. Both of these things can lead to more serious health issues. On the other hand, dental implants reduce stress on your gums, so long as you maintain an appropriate oral healthcare routine. Scientists all believe that implants encourage bone stimulation and reduce bone decay in your jaw.

Increased confidence

Many people who wear cheap dentures feel unconfident, especially talking or eating. This means that they often have a reduced quality of life, because they do not socialise as much as they would like to, or they do not visit the restaurants that they would like to visit. Good quality implants can give people the confidence to continue to live in the way that they want to live. By choosing implants rather than dentures, you are opening yourself up to a range of different possibilities.

- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

Removing a tooth or teeth will not have any adverse effects on eyes. It's a myth. If it is possible to preserve natural teeth, you should. You can go for root canal treatment and save the teeth.

You have teeth sensitivity problem. . teeth sensitivity is a result of loss of outer most layer(enamel) of teeth..that can be due to : - Tooth grinding - Acidic beverages (such as soda) that cause enamel erosion and dentin exposure. - Brushing with a very abrasive toothpaste, brushing incorrectly and/or brushing more than three times a day could result in a loss of enamel. - A chipped or fractured tooth may expose the dentin.  here are few steps to avoid sensitivity of teeth: - Practice good oral hygiene. - Use a sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne. - Don't brush too hard. - Use a softer toothbrush. - Take care while consuming acidic foods. - Use fluoridated dental products. - Avoid grinding your teeth. - See your dentist regularly for professional tooth cleaning, dental care recommendations and advice on treating your sensitive teeth.

Scaling and Polishing for Healthy Teeth

Scaling and Polishing for Healthy Teeth

What is scaling?
Over time, even with regular brushing and flossing, plaque (sticky, soft, bacteria infected layer) and tartar (calcium) deposits build up on your teeth. Scaling removes the tartar and plaque with specialised equipment. Scaling effectively cleans up your teeth by using ultrasound to loosen the tartar and then using tools to scrape it off from the surface of the tooth.

What is polishing?
Polishing is done to remove excess plaque and remove stains. Scaling is always followed by polishing. Polishing also smoothes and shines the teeth to prevent plaque from building up again. It is either done by foam or fluoride gel treatment to reduce the possibility of tooth decay and sensitivity.

Why are they done?
Scaling and polishing are not only done for cosmetic reasons; they are also done for overall oral health. Excessive plaque and tartar buildup will eventually lead to the perfect environment for bacteria to thrive and multiply. The ultimate purpose of polishing and scaling is to clean the surface of the teeth so that the bacteria cannot attach to them and cause serious oral problems (such as gum disease). Also, scaling and polishing offer far better cleaning of your teeth than everyday brushing and flossing.

However, scaling and polishing is not a curative treatment. If your teeth have been damaged by cavities or other oral diseases, you need medical attention.

In fact, professionally, this treatment is called prophylactic treatment; and the word ‘prophylactic’ comes from prophylaxis, which is Greek for ‘to prevent disease’. Thus scaling and polishing is more of a preventive measure than a cure.

Do they hurt?
This process is essentially painless. Most of the people who undergo this treatment usually have the following experiences:

  1. Tickling sensation
  2. Coolness from the water used to clean the mouth
  3. Pressure during the scraping process (The dentist uses specialised tools to “scrape” the tartar deposits off the tooth’s surface). If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Hello, from the above description it seems that the gums are weak due to deposits between your teeth. So get a cleaning done from the dentist to keep the gums healthy. Also, get a full mouth x-ray done to check the bone support. If it is less, you need to go for splinting. Ask your dentist for it.

Dentist,
I have pain in my teeth over 2 days.
Hi cavities, tooth abcess, gum disease, food impaction and fracture of tooth can cause pain in the tooth. It's important to find out the cause of pain. After that treatment can be decided. For temporary relief from pain you can take ketorol dt 2 tabs dissolved in half cup of water or ibuprofen after meal.
