Hai my 3 month old baby some time crying in niht time and I do not have breast milk. Which is the best formula milk for him.

DNB (Pediatrics), Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician, Bangalore
Breastmilk is the best for a baby. Please don't lose hope, every mother gets milk so keep trying. If you want to formula feed, I suggest you do it with a spoon, not with a bottle.

Sir my son is 3 years old with undescended testes. What should we do to cure this? please guide.

General Physician,
You must have seen your doctor. It has to be seriously taken. Untreated, it can lead to cancer. A pediatric surgeon may bring it down or remove as it depends on whether undescended testes is present in the inguinal canal.

Sir, My son who is 2 months old he not doing potty (latrine) on regular basis since one month he has done potty only thrice with the help of medicines request for some good suggestion thanks.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician, Vellore
Mother fed babies are slow and late to bowel movements at times. It is not the frequency which counts for the normality of a baby's potty. It is the consistency of stool to hold a bababy constipated or not. Pls bother about consistency not the frequency. Secondly in years case only twice or thrice in 2 months! if it is really so, in reliable information then it is a matter of concern. Pls check with pediattritian in person for any congenital (by birth) anal malformation (atritia) or stricture to be ruled ou.

I just want to know that maximum how many days anti biotic can we give to 7-9 month old baby!

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH)

It depends on the ailment condition and improvement. There is no hard and fast rule, usually a course of 3-5 days is sufficient, in certain conditions like tb and leprosy we give for about a year.

How to Recognise Asthma?

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
How to Recognise Asthma?

Asthma is a respiratory disease that takes place with a variety of symptoms including breathlessness, wheezing and coughing. It usually occurs when the airways get obstructed, which in turn leads to inflammation of the tubes. So how can you recognise the signs and symptoms of asthma? Here is a list of ways!

  • Risk Identification: It has been observed by doctors and medical science that there is no specific reason for the onset of this ailment. It can be caused due to genetic as well as environmental factors. So, in order to recognise the symptoms, you will first of all have to take stock of both these factors. Find out if you have any blood relatives who have suffered from this ailment and try to find out how it started and at what age, so that you can watch out for the same warning signs. Also, if you are more prone than others when it comes to allergic conditions like rhinitis and atopic dermatitis, then you are at risk. Other risk factors also include living in a high pollution zone, as well as being overweight, smoking, working within close range of exhaust fumes and other chemicals, and other such factors.
  • Symptom Identification: To be able to identify whether or not you are at risk, you must identify the potential symptoms including persistent shortness of breath, which may strike regularly. Also, another symptom is not being able to sleep comfortably due to excessive coughing and breath shortness as well as shallow breathing and wheezing. You may also experience some amount of chest tightening or constriction. These symptoms will usually get worse if you happen to be suffering from the flu or a cold.
  • Respiratory Health: If you are suspecting the onset of this disease, it would be a good idea to watch your respiratory health by observing the rise and fall of your breath when you are doing energy consuming and strenuous activities like exercising or other such tasks. Sports induced asthma is an actual condition that can get worse when your lungs are faced with cold and dry air. Also, if you are facing exhaust fumes and chemicals as a part of your job, then you are at risk of occupational asthma, in which case you should watch your respiratory health very closely. These symptoms can also get worse when you are around animals and pets due to the allergens that may trigger wheezing and coughing. A lung function test can be conducted by the pulmonologist in case you are suffering from any of these symptoms and conditions on a persistence and prolonged basis.

Knowing and reporting your symptoms to the doctor is important for getting timely treatment.

By this age baby must have started walking a few steps. Either he has no been trained even to stand or there is some developmental problem. Get him assessed by pediatrician. His wt is near to normal for his age. Give him good nourishing home made diet rich in protein, green vegetable and fruits.

My new born baby girl has 2mm pda. What is the treatment for this? She is now 4months age.

DMB
Pediatrician, Chennai
Ductus closure is clearly indicated for any child or adult who is symptomatic from significant left-to-right shunting through the PDA. In asymptomatic patients with significant left-to-right shunting that results in left heart enlargement, closure is indicated to minimize the risk of complications in the future. The size of PDA is not relevant but its impact on the left ventricle is. Your child needs regular follow up and trans catheter occlusion if her heart function is compromised. In case you are getting any invasive procedures like scopies, catheterisation or dental extraction, she will need antibiotics before procedure to prevent a serious infection called bacterial endocarditis.

Infants take time to adjust their biological clock as per day light, more ever they sleep a lot in day after feed. Just feeding baby, rocking movements will be helpful.

Hi Doctor my Daughter (4.6 years) has fever since 5 days, last month she has detected typhoid of early stage then have given her dose of Taxim o forte 5 days. Now from past 5 days she is again fever when she sleep in night or afternoon. I has done test of widal but its came negative. Kindly suggest can I give her now azithromycin as prescribed by our doctor.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
Widal test in typhoid fever becomes +ve after a week of fever. Get repeat after 7 days of fever. If, last time she had confirm typhoid fever, it may be relapse since tt was discontinued after 5 days. Now, azithromycin may be given if there is definite symptoms of infection sensitive to it.

I am working woman. I have a 3-month old son. I will be starting work in a week. Until now, I am exclusively breastfeeding my child but will need to introduce formula feed when I start going to work. Please suggest the best formula for my baby.

Pediatrician, Pune
Breast milk is the best, there is no better alternative, if your work place is close by you can take a break every 3 - 4 hrs and feed the baby in between, if the work place has facilities to keep babies, that woul also be better, if these options are not available, you can express the breast milk before going to work, that can be stored in fridge and can be fed to the baby when you are away, expressing breast milk will you to continue secreting and forming more milk required for the baby atleast till 1 year of age, breast milk is the best for baby, second alternatives would be lactogen/ nan1
