The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

If you have diabetes, make sure you take care of your mouth

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
If you have diabetes, make sure you take care of your mouth. People with diabetes are at risk for mouth infections, especially periodontal (gum) disease. Periodontal disease can damage the gum and bone that hold your teeth in place and may lead to painful chewing problems. Some people with serious gum disease lose their teeth.

Brushing your teeth is the cornerstone of any good oral hygiene routine. To keep your teeth and gums healthy, always be sure to brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled brush. The size and shape of your brush should fit your mouth allowing you to reach all areas easily. Also, don’t forget to replace your toothbrush every three or four months or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won’t do a good job of cleaning your teeth

The first checkup for your child should start as soon as he/she gets the first tooth. Remember it's parents responsibility to take care of their child's teeth to save them from necessary pain. Also don't not get your child's tooth extracted as it serves as a guide for the permanent teeth to come in proper position.

Acidity usually caused by not eating at proper time. You are young so there is little chance of any disease. But still you must first change your habit. Take lots of fruits and salad usually in morning. But no packed juice or citrus fruits. Eat at least 4 times. Keep your stomach full don't take medicine empty stomach except for acidity. Drink at least 5-6 glass of water. Try this for one month. And see the changes. Otherwise consult a gastro entetologist.

Sensitive Teeth

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Sensitive Teeth

Is the taste of ice cream or a sip of hot coffee sometimes a painful experience for you? Does brushing or flossing make you wince occasionally? If so, you may have sensitive teeth.

Possible causes include:

  • Tooth decay (cavities)

  • Fractured teeth

  • Worn fillings

  • Gum disease

  • Worn tooth enamel

  • Exposed tooth root

In healthy teeth, a layer of enamel protects the crowns of your teeth—the part above the gum line. Under the gum line a layer called cementum protects the tooth root. Underneath both the enamel and the cementum is dentin.

Dentin is less dense than enamel and cementum and contains microscopic tubules (small hollow tubes or canals). When dentin loses its protective covering of enamel or cementum these tubules allow heat and cold or acidic or sticky foods to reach the nerves and cells inside the tooth. Dentin may also be exposed when gums recede. The result can be hypersensitivity.

Sensitive teeth can be treated. The type of treatment will depend on what is causing the sensitivity. Your dentist may suggest one of a variety of treatments:

  • Desensitizing toothpaste. This contains compounds that help block transmission of sensation from the tooth surface to the nerve, and usually requires several applications before the sensitivity is reduced.

  • Fluoride gel. An in-office technique which strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the transmission of sensations.

  • A crown, inlay or bonding. These may be used to correct a flaw or decay that results in sensitivity.

  • Surgical gum graft. If gum tissue has been lost from the root, this will protect the root and reduce sensitivity.

  • Root canal. If sensitivity is severe and persistent and cannot be treated by other means, your dentist may recommend this treatment to eliminate the problem.

Proper oral hygiene is the key to preventing sensitive-tooth pain. Ask your dentist if you have any questions about your daily oral hygiene routine or concerns about tooth sensitivity.

I am 21 year old girl. My teeth is damage in yellow color. I checkup my teeth. Dr. said it's your water problem then ...
If the problem is bcoz of water then it is known as fluorosis. When the level of fluoride is higher in water than recommend ed then this kind of problem arises in which yellowish to brownish patches are absorbed within the teeth. The treatment depends on the severity of patches. Bleaching can b done in such cases.
