Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. As I tell to all my patients with back pain due to degeneration in spine: - maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - hot fomentation can be done at home with bottle/diathermy belt 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. Do not bend forward acutely especially in morning, do not lift heavy weight and do not travel on uneven surfaces for a long time till your back pain is there. Advice. Gental neck exercise mobililizton for neck use cervical pillow self massage the back of neck hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs.

Advice. Regular stretching of shoulder muscles. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Use cervical pillow.

You need to do morning walk daily for at least 30 minutes. I also suggest you do not sit too long at a stretch - keep changing your position. At lest after 2 hours rise from your seat for 2 minutes and then again sit and so on. Take mag phos 200 - thrice daily 4 pills for next 2 weeks. Give me a feedback.

Dear lybrate-user your grandfather problem can be due to degeneration/infection/inflammation/increased s. Uric acid or vit. D deficiency. Pls get him examined thoroughly, he might have to get blood tests & x rays done. In meantime he can apply hot & cold application on affected joints. He can perform simple/gentle stretching & range of movement ex's withing limits of pain.

. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Am facing problem with calcium and lot of body pain and leg pain please suggest me what I have to do.

Stiffness & pain in back & other joints is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikind plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Pull your 1 ankle upwards by placing 1 towel/sheet & stretch with both hands hold for 10 count & repeat for 10 repetitions, standing- 2. Take wall/chair support & left your heels by keeping knee joint straight hold for 10 count & repeat for 10 repetitions.

For 160 cm height 54 kg weight is good. You don't need to go for weight loss regime. But the back pain and legs pain you are referring, could be due to nerve compression in lower spine region. You should get it examined by orthopaedic doctor or physiotherapist as early as possible to avoid any further inconvenience. Apply heating around the painful region of you back after that you can apply volini or omni gel. Do some lower back muscle strengthening exercises. Avoid forward bending, lifting weights. Sit straight and with support.
