Hello lybrate-user, first, now a days, a diabetic patient can eat everything as long as his or her diet is balanced and high in fiber so that the sugar in food goes into the blood in a sustain way. I would recommend you to have complex carbohydrate sources as you need sugar for proper functioning of some of your vital organs like brain and keep your body mass healthy. Consume nutritious balanced diet, liberal amount of fluid, small amount frequent feed, avoid foods and drinks higher in calorie and lower or empty in nutrients, do regular physical exercises and get 8 hrs. Sound sleep. You should consult a dietician who will suggest you a proper and scientifically correct diet plan and only from there you can get a customized diet chart.

I .Meal Planning

  • Eat smaller , more frequent meals
  • Control carbs
  • Ensure variety in diet - whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables daily
  • Limit fats - 3-4 tsp/day
  • Seasoning tips - use salt sparingly, avoid adding sugars.

II.Practical tips to make you meals healthier

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables- Except for few fruits like banana, mango, chickoo, jackfruit and grapes, and vegetables like potatoes,sweet potatoes , yam . ,both fruits and veggies are cornerstone of diabetes,- gives you vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Eat more whole grains- brown rice, ragi, bajra , jowar,wheat
Use healthy fats and oils- Choose- MUFA's - olive oil, canola oil , less often use PUFA- corn , sesame and safflower oil. Minimise SFA- high fat meat , dairy, coconut,
Choose heart healthy proteins- beans, peas and dals (good source of protein and fibre), Eat fish and shell fish 2-3times/weel, choose skinless, white chicken, nuts in moderation ( almonds , walnuts)
Select low fat dairy products- skim milk and its products like curd, paneer and low fat cheese

III.Healthy breakfast choices

  • An egg white omelette with a bran paratha and fruit wedges
  • Oats with low fat milk and spirinkling nuts and fruits
  • Dalia and veggies upma with a bowl of fresh fruits
  • Oats dosa with mint chutney and orange segments

I am 36 years old male, I have suffering heel pain from last 6 months. I checked my uric acid, and results showed 6.4. After that I apply pain relief ointment but I have not got any fruitful results. So I wants to know what is the reason for this pain? And how to relief?

Your uric acid level is in the upper limit of normal 1. Avoid protein rich diets like mutton, egg, fish, sea food (sardines)/prawn 2. Avoid pulses, lentill, mushrooms, green leafy vegetablles like broccoli, cauli flower, spinach, beans, peas 3. Take fruits like apple, banana, orange, black cherry, lime etc 4. Drink plenty of water (8-10 glass) daily 5. Avoid caffeinated drinks, excess sweets cakes/cookies 6. Reduce weight if overweight 7. Take medicine after consulting physician 8. Take x ray heel to exclude planar fascitis/calcaneal spur and consult orthopedic specialist for advice and treatment.

Yes your sugar level is within the normal limit. But it is in the normal range only with medications. You need to bring it to normalcy nd maintain it without medicines. Following ayurveda will be good for you. Then about foods have wheat millets preparations esply for dinner. Avoid tapioca jack fruit etc have juice of 3-4 indian gooseberry juice with turmeric powder after the break fast daily. Do exercise and yoga daily.

When you have diabetes, your blood sugar (glucose) levels may be consistently high. Over time, this can damage your body and lead to many other problems. Glucose is precious fuel for all the cells in your body when it's present at normal levels. But it can behave like a slow-acting poison. High sugar levels slowly erode the ability of cells in your pancreas to make insulin. The organ overcompensates and insulin levels stay too high. Over time, the pancreas is permanently damaged. High levels of blood sugar can cause changes that lead to a hardening of the blood vessels, what doctors call atherosclerosis.

For your height, your weight seems to be OK. You don't need any protein supplements at all. Many of the commercially available ones are not safe in diabetics.

The thyroid gland, in the lower front of the neck, releases hormones in the bloodstream that affect almost every part of your body, from your brain and heart, to your skin and muscles. It also controls metabolism which is the process of changing the food you eat into energy. When the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone, it is called hypothyroidism.

Symptoms of hypothyroidism include:

  1. Constipation
  2. Hair loss and dry hair
  3. Dry skin
  4. Fatigue
  5. Sensitivity to cold
  6. Decreased heart rate
  7. Goitre (swollen thyroid glands)
  8. Weight gain and difficulty in losing that weight
  9. Persistent jaundice

Hypothyroidism is not curable, but it can be controlled with the right medication. Along with taking your medicines, you can also adopt the following lifestyle changes:

  1. Eat right: While there is no specific diet for hypothyroidism, you should consume vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats and lean proteins. Since gaining weight is a common symptom of hypothyroidism, eating the right things can help you maintain your weight.
  2. Regular exercise: Exercising can reduce stress, improve energy and help you maintain your optimum weight. Aerobics (for example, cardio), flexibility and strengthening workouts can help with hypothyroidism. Other than that, light weightlifting, yoga and walking, are also beneficial. Do not forget to consult your doctor before you start on any of these exercises.
  3. Reduce stress: Hypothyroidism is chronic, and the one thing that worsens chronic diseases is stress. Stress has serious repercussions on your overall health. So it is important to reduce your stress as much as you can. Meditate daily, at least for five minutes, and schedule a weekly massage to deal with your stress.
  4. Get enough sleep: Fatigue is a symptom of hypothyroidism; you feel tired and sluggish throughout the day. The best way to counter this is to establish a schedule for sleeping. Try to sleep and wake up every day at the same time in the night and in the morning. Generally, sleeping for seven to eight hours is recommended. Hye, thanks for the query. Usually in hyperthyroidism your metabolism is much more than normal and hence your nutrient needs are very high. When your eating habits are poor or not enough it can cause drastic weight loss. Being underweight can be a concern if it's the result of poor nutrition. Here are some healthy ways to gain weight when you're underweight: eat more frequently. When you're underweight, you may feel full faster. Eat five to six smaller meals during the day rather than two or three large meals. Choose nutrient-rich foods. As part of an overall healthy diet, choose whole-grain breads, rice and cereals; fruits and vegetables; dairy products; lean protein sources; and nuts. Don't fill up on diet soda, coffee and other drinks with few calories and little nutritional value. Instead, drink smoothies or healthy shakes. Snack on nuts, dried fruits and fresh fruits. Even when you're underweight, be mindful of excess sugar and fat. An occasional slice of cake or ice cream is fine. But most sweets should be healthy and provide nutrients in addition to calories. Sheera, lassi and chikki are good choices. Exercise, especially strength training, can help you gain weight by building up your muscles. Exercise may also stimulate your appetite.
