I have hai fall problem. I am diabetic and is suffering from thyroid since last 5 years. Please suggest any medicine.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

Hello, Thanks for the query. Do you mean hair fall problem? If so then it does happen in hypothyroidism, particularly if TSH is not well controlled. When on treatment TSH should be maintained <3 mU/L to be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. So please check that and come back. Plus it is also necessary to have a strict blood glucose control with FBG < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. I am sure you are already on a number of medications to treat both the conditions. To suggest any further medication I need to know what is the present condition in terms of glucose levels & HbA1c% and TSH level. Plus other information like weight, height, extent of exercise and dietary pattern. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines no prescriptions are allowed. Hence, if you are looking for further advise please come in a private conversation with all the baove details, then I will be able to help. Thanks.

Sleep medicines will not cure the cause of your burning pain. It could be because of uncontrolled or fluctuating blood sugar levels, or a nerve which is getting compressed in your hips, or the effect of vitamin deficiencies, smoking etc. Once this is sorted and the pain settles, you may not feel the necessity of taking sleeping pills.

Mr nitesh, please tell me are you taking any medications if yes what are those? because without medicine there is no way one can control diabetes. So please start treatment with appropriate drugs. Also exercise and take a restricted diet matching the needs of your body and avoid sweets, sugar and smoking and alcohol.

Hello, Thanks for the query. If you do not have any problem then it is good. To keep healthy, fit and free from certain diseases like diabetes, one needs to adapt a healthy lifestyle, like 1) Regular exercise for over 1 hour. You consider joining a gym and doing workouts under the guidance. 2) Take healthy diet, consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits, whole grain flour for roti and chapati. 3) Avoid maida, pastries, bakery items, deep fried foods and sweetened aerated drinks (colas). 4) Refrain from alcohol and smoking. Thanks.

What are the healthy Indian breakfast and fruits for diabetics. Can I eat puri, plain paratha and also let us know how much rice I should eat weekly. Can I take slight sugar in tea or should I take sugar substitute like sugar free or splenda or it should not contain any sugar at all. Please also let me know what are the fruits and dry fruits one should avoid if he has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. My recent Hba1c report is showing Glycosylated haemoglobin as 7.00 unit. Thanks,

Mr. Lybrate-user. You are weighing more for your age and height and may be the reason for early onset of diabetes at an age of 24. Obesity causes insulin resistance, so you need to concentrate more on your weight reduction with some physical activity. In allopathy you need to take meds to control diabetes. To bring sugar levels to normal. 2/3of the sugar levels should be controlled by physical activity and for remaining 1/3 you need to take medication. This usually lessens the long term complications of the diabetes, reduced dose of the drugs and prevent early drug resistance. You need regular physician's care for your present health status. Contact if need further assistance.

The burning sensation is only due to your diabetic. So first let the diabetic is under control, then automatically the burning sensation will subside. So let me know whether your diabetic is under control or not.

Mr Ammu, Possibly those could be boils, due to skin/ hair follicle infection by Staph aureus. Need to be treated with proper antibiotics and analgesics. Plus you should have excellent sugar control.
