MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, Ther is no permanent solution for gout or raised uric acid. If there is severe pain and arthritis then specific drugs may have to be taken. Plus following foods should be avoided: organ meat, red meat, certain sea foods like sardines, scallop, herring, haddock, salmon, trout, mussels and mushrooms. Thanks.

I am 65 year old male I am having hypothyroidism. I am taking thyronorm 125 mg. If the dose of medicine increases what are the side effect and symptoms.

Herbal tea with ginger is beneficial for thyroid functioning. In fact, beverages including coffee, tea, carbonated drinks and alcohols should be avoided by patients afflicted with thyroid disorders. In its place herbal tea may be an alternative option.......take punarnavadi mandoor and kanchnar guggul 1-1 tab twice a day. ..take arogyavardhini vati 1-1 tab twice a day with warm water

I have thyroid. Can you tell me how to reduce it. What food to eat and what to do instead of medicine.

MS - ENT,MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Kolkata
I am outlining  food you should avoid or restrict in Hypothyroidism. It's important  you maintain  your body weight exercise regularly. Weight gain increases thyroid hormone requirements. Avoid cruciferous   group of veggies  like cabbage and broccoli. Avoid soya bean in all forms. No soya ,nugget, chunk, tofu or milk. Limit their intake: Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, turnips, and bok choy. Cooking the vegetables can reduce the effect that cruciferous vegetables have on the thyroid gland. Limiting your intake to 5 ounces a day appears to have no adverse effect on thyroid function. Decrease gluten  intake from processed  food. Always try whole grain varieties of cereals which is rich in fibres and help improve  bowels (Take your thyroid replacement  medicine several hours before or several hours after food rich in fibres .Otherwise problem  with absorption  of hormone. 20 to 35 gram of fibres daily from all sources. Avoid excessive fatty (deep fried) and sugary food as hypothyroidism  causes your metabolism  to slow down &weight gain. Avoid highly salted food, chips, pickles, sauces as they contain  large amount of sodium .Hypothyroidism  puts you at risk of high BP and excess sodium in salt aggravates Coffee  in excess. And coffee with thyroid hormone  replacement  can prevent absorption. Alcohol. It is toxic to thyroid gland and prevents  hormone production and absorption. Hope this helps

No you cannot take any soya product as it has nutrient blockers which will make your hypothyroidism worse. Please stop any source of soya protein. Hi  First : medicines are mandatory.  Otherwise you might have weight gain, muscle ache, sleep and anxiety issues as well as reproductive  and cardiac issues later. You need to get an USG neck done  and an FNAC USG guided of thyroid gland. FT3/FT4/TSH  If you have already done these tests Share on lybrate I can help you better. Any history of alcohol  intake /fatty food /sugary food How much exercise do you get done every day? Ideally you should be doing a good mix of cardio ,weights and crossfit  exercises to keep you healthy Together  with a balanced diet with optimum  healthy fat protein and carbs.  Avoid  deep fried fatty food and fast food. No soft drinks /sugary drinks. I am outlining  food you should avoid or restrict in Hypothyroidism. I am 35 year old and I am suffering from diabetes. I have fever and chills and shivering and fatigue and nausea and body pain for one month. I consulted a homoeo doctor and gave me eupatorium perf 1m and silicea6x and I am feeling little better. eupatorium perf only one powder daily for four days and silicea 6x 4 tablets two times daily. Now I am feeling little ok not full and now is the fourth day I am taking eupatorium perf powder. So I want to know if it is malaria should I take homoeo medicine long to complete the course or it is enough for 4 days. I have not taken any test for malaria. I am feeling now little chill and body pain and little headache. Pls suggest any advice.

MBBS
General Physician, Allahabad
Please note seriously what I am telling, the diagnosis will itself speak. These are my practical experience which I can say are 100% correct. Before this fever starts about 3--4 days before patient feels headache (mild) and feeling of tiredness which he owes to his busy hectic routine. After 3--4 days there is sudden onset of high temperature accompanied by chills for 15--20 minutes followed by warmth and patient starts throwing all bedsheets and blankets at this time temp is between 102-- 104 degrees which drops after half an hour. Now the temp rises once in 24 hours may be visible or only patient feels this is accompanied by severe headache and body ache this symptom remains for about 1 hour and goes to normal without taking any medicines. This happens daily until proper treatment is given. There is vomitting feeling bitter mouth taste, loss of appetite, and progressive weakness. Above features make the patient normal life miserable. Please note in this urine colour is slight yellow or normal. If the above feature matches with your symptoms than you are having malaria which needs proper treatment at an earliest. As regards homeopathy I have no knowledge. If you wish in allopathy I may tell you. Take tab grandem with tab acilock150 mg twice daily after breakfast and dinner. Take tab cefolac-- o 200 mg + tab flexon twice daily after one hour of above noted medicines. Take tab lumerax 80 mg twice daily with milk. Only for 3 days. Take tab trinerve - lc one at bedtime. If fever sometimes rises you may take tab crocin advance when required. Take all these medicines for 7 days except lumerax (only 3 days) after 7 days let me know response for further advice on lybrate paid consultation service.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if your blood sugar is in good control, all your symptoms will disappear. You should achieve fasting blood glucose closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c%<6.8. Otherwise, it is difficult to feel energetic and active enough.

Side effects are negligible as compared to high sugars. Rest assured and control your sugars to win valuable years of life. Remember diabetes can be controlled but it's complications are untreatable.

My age is 53 years, In the last two years I lost weight for 10 kgs, And eye sight increased to + 2.5, I am in border line of sugar, BP 140/100, Am I diabetic patient, who have met me after long time they told that I become week and lean, what kind of precautions to be taken ?

FVRS, DNB Ophthalmology, MS Ophthalmology, MBBS, FICO

The +2.50 power that you have is normal for your age. It is called presbyopia and it is due to the notmal weakening of the ciliary muscles which occur with age. No special precautions need be taken as regards to eye, except of course good diabetic control and yearly reguler checkups

I am 27 years old I have a type 2 diabetes can you please tell me the weight loss please I am 80 kgs.

M.sc Food & Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
There is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

I have tyep 2 diabetes and passing sugar from urine write a good medicine of high blood sugar.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. If you have T2 DM, then you need to take proper medication, plus restricted diet and also do regular exercise for over 1 hour a day for achieving good control and reduce passing glucose from urine. To decide what medication can be given I need to know fasting, PP blood glucose levels, HbA1c%, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise and if any medication is being taken now. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines, no prescriptions can be written. So it is better if you come in a private conversation with all the above details then I will be give specific advise and prescribe the drugs. Thanks.
