Hey,
I have a problem like my teeth are yellow and very small.
I brush twice in a day.
But, there is no improvements ...
Size of the tooth determined by genes. You can not grow it. The natural color of teeth again determined by genes some have bright white shining teeth while others have with yellow tinge. To make more whiter avoid aggressive brushing, though brushing twice daily with soft bristles brush and good toothpaste is good to maintain hygiene. Need to evaluate your teeth to know exact treatment plan or possibility.

Myths About Root Canals Answered by Renowned Dentist Dr Ratnika Agarwal

Myths About Root Canals Answered by Renowned Dentist Dr Ratnika Agarwal

If you were recently informed that you need a root canal, chances are the minute you left your dentist’s clinic, you immediately began scouring the Internet for information on this well-known — but highly misunderstood — dental treatment.

The Internet can be a great place to gather helpful information, but it is also plagued by unreliable sources & dangerously inaccurate information that can lead unknowing online researchers astray.

The following are common myths & misinformation about root canals & tooth pain that are prevalent online. While finding out you are in need of a root canal can be frightening, the more you know about this tooth-saving procedure & what it can do for your toothache & oral health, the calmer & more confident you will feel when you return to the dentist’s chair.

Myth #1: You only need a root canal if you are experiencing tooth pain.

Sometimes teeth that have died no longer cause pain & need to have a root canal in order to avoid becoming infected. We have several tests that allow us to know when a tooth has died & needs to receive a root canal.

Myth #2: Root canal treatment is painful.

A root canal relieves tooth pain associated with progressive & destructive decay that has reached the root of a tooth & caused infection. With the use of cutting-edge dental technology, along with anesthetics & sedation dentistry, having a root canal feels similar to receiving a filling & can be just as painless.

Myth #3: Root canals cause illness.

It’s hard to miss this myth if you are searching for information on root canals online. This myth is based on poorly designed & long-since debunked research that took place almost an entire century .Not only are root canals safe & effective, they eliminate bacteria from the infected roots of teeth, improving both your oral health & your overall health.

Myth #4: The benefits of root canal treatments are temporary.

Root canal results are long-lasting. They relieve patients’ toothaches & preserve the affected tooth indefinitely. The final restoration or crown is the key to successful results. A well-made & well-fit crown combined with good at-home oral health practices & routine visits to the dentist can ensure that your tooth lasts a lifetime.

Myth #5: Tooth extraction is a good alternative to root canals.

An extraction is a traumatic procedure that actually allows more bad bacteria to be introduced into the bloodstream. There is no adequate replacement for a natural tooth. A root canal with a good restoration is not only cost effective, it allows you to keep your natural tooth. Bridges, implants, & other replacement alternatives require additional treatments, more time in the chair, & elevated cost.

I an suffering from teeth pain. Sir I decided that I'll remove teeth. But doctor said that the gap will not fill after that. Is there any serious problem if I will not fill the gap by artificial teeth?

Dear lybrate user, space left empty by removing a tooth is not good because it leads to bone loss in that area. Also, the neighboring teeth and the teeth in the opposing arch also begin to show slight movement towards the empty space which disturbs the normal relation between upper and lower teeth. You are still at a growing age. Don't think of extracting your tooth and leaving the gap empty.

Gums bleeding is due to infection in gums. Get scalling done by dentist. Take vit c tab for one week. Use proper brushing techniques. Brush, floss n use mouthwash twice daily. Massage your gums with your finger tips after brushing. Keep your tongue clean. Rinse your mouth well after each meal. Visit your dentist for dental checkups every 6 months to detect n prevent dental probs.

Hello doctors, I have sensitive teeth and I am using oral-b extra soft brush and ra thermoseal paste and till I have the problem. My doctor told I have calcium deficiency and I have to bear the pain to my life long. Need suggestion to reduce the pain

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS

Ca deficiency does not cause tooth senstivity. Its due to desolution of tooth layers and exposure of pulp. If its in early stage can be corrected by medicated paste if not then filling or rct has to be done. Get them treated accordingly. U may consult me as well

I went for root canal treatment for one of my tooth. The Dentist started the treatment and while the treatment was going on my tooth. I asked the Dentist to see my other tooth. But the Dentist is not ready to see at all. We can see that later when you get pain. I don't know if the Dentist is really caring the patient at all. He tooth rct costs nearly 7-8 thousands. So he is just concentrating the money more than my tooth. How can deny my other tooth problem and say we can see later? Is this professional behaviour of Dentist? Are they really caring patient or money?

General Physician,
Gums bacteria can cause preterm delivery

Proper dental care can prevent heart attacks, heart blockages, asthma and COPD. This was stated by Padma Shri, Dr B C Roy & DST National Science Communication Awardee, Dr K K Aggarwal, President Heart Care Foundation of India and Honorary Secretary General IMA. Bacteria present in the gums have been linked to many diseases in the past.

Periodontal treatment should be included in prenatal care programs, as per a study in the Journal of Periodontology, which has shown that treating gum disease in pregnant women may prevent preterm birth.

The study has shown that while pregnant women, in whom the periodontal disease was treated, were no more likely to deliver their babies prematurely than women with no gum disease, those who did not get treatment had a nearly 90-fold increased risk of premature delivery.

Another study found that the more bacteria women with periodontal disease had in their gums during and after pregnancy, the more likely they were to deliver their infants prematurely.

This could b either due to sensitivity due to loss of enamel surface or due to decay of tooth. Tooth decay can b treated by filling of tooth or by rct n capping of the decay is deep. Sensitivity can b reduced by using desensitizing toothpaste such as senquelf or sensodyne toothpaste by rubbing some amount of toothpaste onto your tooth surface n wait till 5 mins before rinsing it off. Get your teeth evaluated by dentist to know the cause of your problem n get treated accordingly. Regsrds.

Kindly consult an orthodontist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations (model study, full mouth & profile x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need fixed / removable braces. Requirements may depends on the age, complaint, duration of the treatment & affordability. Cost of cosmetic dentistry (braces) varies with dentist.

Dear , I can understand what you are feeling - but feeling this way may not help you. Now that the re rct has been done - and your gums have been treated - I would advise you to do something simple - take lukewarm saline water and rinse your mouth at least with 10 to 12 glasses a day. The inflammation in the gums will start going down in 5 to 7 days and by 2nd or 3rd week you will immensely better. Now, just in case the discomfort increases in one particular tooth or teeth or doing warm saline it would be indicative of some problem with that tooth. This would then necessitate a visit to your dentist who may require x rays to cross check the tooth from finer viewpoint. In case you have photographs of your teeth and gums - you can post over here or privately.
