denture
If you wear dentures, the general rule is: brush, soak, brush. Always clean your dentures over a bowl of water or a folded towel in case you drop them. Brush your dentures before soaking, to help remove any food debris. Using an effervescent (fizzy) denture cleaner will help remove stubborn stains and leave your denture feeling fresher.

My mouth does not open because I am smoking a cigarette. Please advise.

PhD (Psychology), MSc Psychology, MS
Psychologist,
My mouth does not open because I am smoking a cigarette. Please advise.
Dear, Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you?re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse?no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn't easy. But it?s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should be under supervision of a psychiatrist / psychologist who may follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Take care.

Nature's Cavity Fighter

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Nature's Cavity Fighter

Fluoride is a mineral that helps fight tooth decay. It is found in public water supplies, toothpaste and many other dental products.

Often called, “nature’s cavity fighter,” fluoride helps repair the early stages of tooth decay even before the decay can be seen. Research shows that fluoride helps prevent cavities in children and adults by making teeth more resistant to the acid attacks that cause cavities. When you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste, use other fluoride dental products, and drink water with fluoride you are preventing cavities and strengthening your teeth’s outer surface, called enamel.

If you have a good chance of getting cavities, your dentist can apply fluoride to your teeth during your dental visit. Your dentist might also tell you to use a special fluoride rinse, paste or gel at home

Hi lybrate-user there are several options for the replacement of missing teeth. These include removable dentures, fixed bridges, and dental implants. Each has its advantages, as well as potential problems. You can discuss all your options depending upon your situation with your dentist and select the one that seems most appropriate to you. As for root canal treatment, it is usually quite safe and effective in dealing with deeply decayed, broken down and painful teeth. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic whenever some pain or discomfort is anticipated. So don't worry. You'll be fine. Hope this helps.

Do not wait for any miracle or medicine that will get you relief. It can be treated and pain can be relieved only by a dentist. So do not waste time and money on medicines.
