Cavities might respond to hot and cold stimulus. Please get your teeth examined by a dentist. He might also take an x-ray to determine the extent of the cavity. He may ask you to go for root canal treatment if the cavity is too deep else he will remove the infected part of the teeth and restore it with a filling material.

I dnt want them to increase and affect me n my personality. Suggest me the treatment. Some of my known have suggested me of root canal or filling I am afraid of pain. My ques are 1) why it is happening? Coz I dnt consume lots of sweets or chocolates 2) a way to get rid off pain and sensitivity 3) can I repair my teeth again as I want to with any natural method? 4) what is the medical long term treatment for this? Will it be painful? 5) how can I improve my breathe? Dear Dr. I'll b very thankful to you for your concern. please help me.

Dentist, Ahmedabad
First of all, 1- Having sweets or chocolates is not the only cause of tooth cavity. Any kind of incleaned food that lodges onto tooth surface leads to tooth decay. 2- For tooth sensitivity you can use any sensitivity tooth paste commercially available. 3- Once tooth decay occurs there is no natural method available for it but ya you can stop it from occuring by maintaining a good oral hygine and by scaling ( cleaning of teeth ) at thr interval of 5-6 months every year and by proper brushing technique. 4- If the decay is not too deep we can save the tooth by restoring it with dental cements, and if the cavity is too deep we can save it by root canal treatment followed by placement of crown ( i.e. cap ) - Now days root canal treatment is 100 % pain free treatment. 5- To improve breath , do brushing twice a day as well as forceful gargles everytime you take food. - And undergo scaling ( cleaning of teeth ) every 6 months

Gingivitis and Its Causes and Symptoms

Gingivitis and Its Causes and Symptoms

Gingivitis is a disorder, which is characterized by inflammation, swelling and irritation in the gums. Usually, the symptoms of this disorder are mild, so you might not pay much heed to them. However, if left untreated, this condition can result in other serious disorders, such as teeth loss and periodontitis. The primary cause of gingivitis is an improper oral hygiene.

The symptoms of gingivitis are:

  1. Red gums that bleed easily
  2. Swelling in the gums
  3. Tender gums that are receding
  4. You may have bad breath
  5. You may bleed from your gums during brushing and flossing

Causes: The most common cause of this disorder is bad oral hygiene, which facilitates the formation of plaque on your teeth. If the foods you eat contain excess sugar, the bacteria in your mouth may interact with them to produce acid (plaque) if you don't manage to maintain good oral habits. If not removed, the plaque can turn into tartar; plaque can be difficult to get rid of as tartar.

Treatment: The treatment for gingivitis usually begins with an initial evaluation and a professional cleaning to get rid of the tartar. You should use proper brushing and flossing techniques to prevent the recurrence of plaque. You should also follow up with the dentist on a regular basis for check-ups.

Scaling is the procedure by which the plaque from the teeth is removed. If the sources of problems are misaligned teeth and poorly fitted dentures, then these need to be fixed. There are certain home remedies for gingivitis such as:

  1. Use toothbrush that has soft bristles
  2. Visit a dentist for regular oral check- ups, it is very essential for the upkeep of sound oral health
  3. Regular flossing can help
  4. Use a non-alcoholic mouthwash which can help in removal of cavities and plaque to a certain extent, though not majorly
  5. Use fluoride based toothpaste to brush your teeth at least twice a day
  6. Clean your teeth regularly, avoid eating foods laden with sugar and eat plenty of vegetables

Brush your teeth properly before going to bed everyday. After anything you eat, clean wash mouth cavity with plain water well. No food particle should be stuck in mouth. If you this daily, you won't get the complaint.

You may have cavity inside tooth and pulp infection called pulpitis. Get an x-ray done to know about the position of cavity. You may need rct. For temporary relief from pain you can take ketorol dt 2 tabs dissolved in half cup of water. Or ibuprofen after meal. Brush regularly two times daily. Smoking or consuming smokeless tobacco is very harmful for your teeth. It can lead to various oral diseases like oral cancer, gingivitis, periodontitis and tooth decay.

5 Oral Symptoms You Should NOT Ignore

Dry Mouth

Dry mouth, or xerostomia, is a very common oral condition, especially as you age. There are also more than 425 medications that include dry mouth as a side effect. But dry mouth can be related to issues beyond dental health. It?s also a common symptom of diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, and Sjogren?s syndrome. If you have chronic dry mouth, you should be concerned and talk to your dentist.

Mouth Sores

Did you know that a white or red patch on the tongue or lining of the mouth is the most common sign of oral cancer? But don?t be alarmed: Mouth sores are completely common and the chance your sore signals cancer is low. To be safe, show your dentist any sores in your mouth that don?t heal after two weeks.
Mouth sores from oral cancer tend to occur along with other oral conditions, such as a strange taste in the mouth, problems chewing, pain when you swallow, and having trouble with speech.

Sour Taste In Your Mouth

If you frequently have a sour taste in your mouth (which is often mistaken for bad breath), it could be another sign of GERD, especially if it?s accompanied by a sore throat, chest pain, and a hoarse voice, Leader warns. Besides this oral condition and?dental erosion, GERD can lead to other problems such as an esophageal ulcer and inflammation of the esophagus. If you suspect you have GERD, get tested and treated as needed.
Swollen Gums
--------------------
Swollen gums is another sign of gum disease. An old school remedies says to just gargle with salt water and ?everything will be alright.? Even if you believe you have healthy teeth, swollen gums absolutely require a visit to the dentist. Your dentist or dental hygienist will be able to tell right away if you have gum disease ? but you can check for swollen gums yourself by drying your gums with a napkin or a tissue and looking in the mirror. Although your swollen gums may feel fine, they tend to bleed during brushing.
In addition to swelling, this dental health problem also causes red gums. (Most light- and dark-skinned people naturally have pink gums, but some people of Mediterranean and African descent have darker gums).

Stinky Breath

Last but not least, everyone experiences stinky breath, right? Wrong. Brushing and flossing (including brushing your tongue or using a tongue scraper) should nip in the bud but when it doesn?t, it?s a problem. It could be a sign of advanced gum disease, so it?s important to talk to your dentist before this oral condition ruins perfectly healthy teeth.
Most of the time, however, the biggest bad-breath culprit is your diet. ?Onion, garlic, and pungent spices will produce mouth odor for hours after consumption,? Dr. Leader says. In addition, people who have uncontrolled diabetes, eat a high-protein diet, or suffer from alcoholism tend to have breath with a sweet or fruity odor.
