Is there any home remedy available for whitening of teeth? I'm 21 years old male from delhi.

Is there any home remedy available for whitening of teeth? I'm 21 years old male from delhi.
Cause of discoloration – Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. . DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. HOME BLEACH FOR THE TEETH Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.

How to clean teeth. The yellow spot on teeth major problem for me. How can remove it. please advise me.
Try to find out if the spot is intrinsic or extrinsic. Extrinsic stains can be removed by scaling, intrinsic stains to be removed by bleaching procedure. There are many types of bleaching procedures, the suitability of the procedure depends on case to case.

How do you go about getting teeth whitening? What is teeth whitening? Who can perform teeth whitening? What happens during teeth whitening at the dentist? What about home kits and beauty salons for teeth whitening? What are the risks of home kits and salon teeth whitening? What questions should I ask the dentist before going ahead?

Dentist, Faridabad

Teeth whitening or in technical terms bleaching is a dental procedure in which teeth are exposed to certain bleaching chemicals and then treated with high intensity light for those chemicals to work properly. Usually it takes 2-3 sittings to get desired results. But teeth can get stained again 6 months to 1 year after treatment. So to avoid that you should avoid pigmented food substances like tea, coffee, turmeric etc. So ask your dentist before procedure to match your current tooth shade on shade guide and then your desired shade and how many sittings you need for that shade. Kits for home use purpose take longer time and not as good as professional bleaching at a dental clinic.

Sensitive Teeth

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Is the taste of ice cream or a sip of hot coffee sometimes a painful experience for you? Does brushing or flossing make you cry out occasionally? If so, you may have sensitive teeth.
Possible causes include:
• Tooth decay (cavities)
• Fractured teeth
• Worn fillings
• Gum disease
• Worn tooth enamel
• Exposed tooth root
In healthy teeth, a layer of enamel protects the crowns (the part above the gum line )of your teeth. Under the gum line a layer called cementum protects the tooth root. Underneath both the enamel and the cementum is dentin.
Dentin is less dense than enamel and cementum and contains microscopic tubules (small hollow tubes or canals). When dentin loses its protective covering of enamel or cementum these tubules allow heat and cold or acidic or sticky foods to reach the nerves and cells inside the tooth. Dentin may also be exposed when gums recede. The result can be hypersensitivity.
Sensitive teeth can be treated. The type of treatment will depend on what is causing the sensitivity. Your dentist may suggest one of a variety of treatments:
• Desensitizing toothpaste. This contains compounds that help block transmission of sensation from the tooth surface to the nerve, and usually requires several applications before the sensitivity is reduced.
• Fluoride gel. An in-office technique which strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the transmission of sensations.
• A crown, inlay or bonding. These may be used to correct a flaw or decay that results in sensitivity.
• Surgical gum graft. If gum tissue has been lost from the root, this will protect the root and reduce sensitivity.
• Root canal. If sensitivity is severe and persistent and cannot be treated by other means, your dentist may recommend this treatment to eliminate the problem.
Proper oral hygiene is the key to preventing sensitive-tooth pain. Ask your dentist if you have any questions about your daily oral hygiene routine or concerns about tooth sensitivity.

I'm suffering from halitosis. So what are the home remedies to get rid of this? Or any other medication?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
I'm suffering from halitosis. So what are the home remedies to get rid of this?
Or any other medication?
Dear lybrate-user you are suffering from halitosis means there is lack of maintenance of your oral hygiene or you have bad digestion, remedies like mouthwashes and breath mints are enough to mask their chronic halitosis, halitosis causing bacteria on the back of the tongue. People with chronic halitosis have large amounts of volatile sulfur compounds produced from the breakdown of proteins by bacteria in the mouth. As one of the leading halitosis causes, common halitosis treatment options since chronic halitosis causes severe repercussions, suffers are anxious to find a halitosis cure. Tooth brushes and mouthwash - do not solve the problem. Toothbrushes can't reach the back of the tongue where the bacterial causes of halitosis reside; so although brushing plays an important role in oral hygiene, it is not a halitosis cure. Since mouthwashes only temporarily mask and do not eliminate the odor-causing bacteria, they too are not an effective chronic halitosis treatment. Tongue scraping, together with proper oral hygiene is the most effective" common" treatment against the causes of halitosis. Yet, the underlying halitosis causes remain: finally a halitosis cure finding a halitosis cure. A safe germicide called chlorine dioxide was found highly effective.

Hello lybrate user, gum bleeding is because of infection in gums. Infected gums are sensitive to touch also so when your brush is in contact with infected gums it bleeds. If you want to get rid off it you have to go for professional cleaning of your gums. Your tooth pain is because of cavity in your teeth for that you have to undergo root canal treatment.

Dentist,
I am 20 years old. I have toothache for last 2 days. What should I do?
You can take a pain killer tablet like brufen 400 / combiflam /diclogem for a temporary relief and consult a dentist for proper treatment of the tooth to avoid same problem in future. (note: pain killer tablets are also not solution because they only treat the symptom and not the cause of tooth pain. Also harmful for the body if taken for longer periods without proper supervision.) pain can be due to various factors visit your dentist and get a proper examination done which may include x-rays if necessary, to get a precise diagnosis, after which dentist can give you exact alternatives of treatment options and then you can make decision as to get which appropriate treatment suitable to your problem and needs. If scaling was to loosen gums the treatment would have not existed. We dentist also gets our scaling done every 6 months. As in spite of taking good care it is a must. your gums are bleeding. It shows that if you do not get your scaling done eventually you might also get bone loss problem n then weaken teeth. Visit a dentist for consultation.

See if you had no problem with your lower teeth why you should go for extraction. Ya just consult to your dentist if pain exist either do xray every 2 years for confirmation tht all is good. I will suggest no extraction until it hurt your hard or soft tissue.
