I am 35 years old and suffering with sinus and allergy problems like sneezing all the time I had operation 2 years back and I feel that my through is filled with water like I have given up smoking 1 year back.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
Mr, lybrate-user if you have been operated earlier than I have some thing for you and read this carefully, sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusitis and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopic-ally.

Hi. Nose block and mouth breathing with snoring in night can cause dryness of throat and disturbed sleep. Long term disturbed sleep can affect your concentration. The reasons for your dry throat and disturbed sleep will have to be evaluated thoroughly.

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Mumbai
Hello lybrate user. You have not mentioned about the issues for which you get tensed easily. But in general at your age there is a lot of performance pressure and expectations which may build stress if not handled appropriately. You may need to work on some of your coping skills so as to deal with difficult situations. You may get in touch to learn a few. All the best.

You neeed to find the cause of this sneezing if it is going for long days. So look for your Blood -cbc, AEC.igE which will determine the cause. And then treatment protocols can be discussed.

Sir, I usually get throat infection within 10-15 days again and again. Previously I was diagnosed for small fungus in throat and taken treatment by some antibacterial and antiviral medicines. But after taking full treatment the situation arises of same kind. ENT doctors says its due to lack of immunity. I want to ask the fungus which I usually get for what reasons? I can't seat in AC.

DAA, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS, DMRD
Pediatrician, Mumbai
Hello lybrate-user, you have mentioned that you have been diagnosed with fungal infection of the throat and prescribed antibiotic and antiviral medications. Ideally a fungal infection should respond to antifungal medications. I would like to advice some blood test to test your immune system. It's important to find the cause of low immunity to prescribe right treatment.

After treatments from CMC Vellore (Medicine taken Ditide, 90 tab, one daily; vertistar-16, 60 tab, 2 daily; stemetil-5, 5 mg, as & when required) giddiness has been cured but tinnitus & hearing loss still persists what to do now?

Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology (B.A.S.L.P)
Audiologist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user, you r recovered from dizziness problem, good. But tinnitus and hearing problem are still there, ok. Listen, you r suffering from tinnitus in left ear, and meniere's disease is still there, so you must reduce sodium intake in your diet and try to avoid noisy places as possible by u, because the main reason behind tinnitus is noise exposure. And divert your attention from tinnitus sound as far as possible. Stay stress free all the day, also anxiety can increase tinnitus problem. Ok. Try to avoid caffeinated products, cola etc. Usually there is no remedy for tinnitus, but the above precautions can prevent you from more irritating perception of tinnitus sounds. And hearing loss is due to meniere's disease and lower frequencies are mostly affected, so get your ear checked and continue the above explained precautions for better result.
