I'm 33 years old. I undergone orthodontics treatment on 2 days back, my tests slightly in front, I wanted to know what are the precaution to be taken to eat and drink, can hot tea, coffee can be taken? Non veg can eat or not, Which toothpaste can be useful? Please suggest.

Diet restrictions: for most situations, common sense will tell you what to avoid. Hard, sticky, chewy, and brittle foods and foods high in sugar must be avoided. Hard and brittle foods can break or damage wires and brackets. Broken brackets lead to delays in your treatment progress. Sticky and chewy foods can get caught between brackets and wires. Minimize sugary foods; they cause tooth decay and related problems. Nail/cuticle biting, pencil and pen chewing and chewing on foreign objects should be avoided. Avoid these foods - bubble gum (sugar-free gum is okay), sticky candy, nuts, popcorn, hard breads crust/rolls, pizza crust, apples and carrots (unless cut into small pieces or shredded), minimize sugary foods like: cake ice cream cookies candy try to avoid: soda sweetened tea any drinks with excess sugar.

Dear, We can understand your concerns. If you want a less expensive option - one can go for a remoavble partial denture (RPD). If you want something which works as fixed - one can even think of giving a bridge.

There is a gap on left lower jaw after a tooth removed .For new tooth which method is correct.Stitching or fixing by latest technology ?.

MFDS RCPS (Glasgow), MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS
Dentist, Delhi
There are several techniques available to replace a missing natural tooth. I don't know what you mean by "stitching. In any case, dental implants are the most recent advancement in this field, and do have several advantages over other techniques. However, there are drawbacks as well, to each technique. You would have to sit with ur dentist, discuss the pros and cons of all possible options and decide which one suits you the best. Hope this helps.

Activities like cracking nuts, removing bottle tops or ripping open packaging should not be performed by making use of our teeth. It can result in broken or chipped teeth. Our teeth should only be used for chewing food.

Ulcers generally take 1-2weeks to heal completely. recurrent ulcers can be due to local mouth conditions such as rough teeth surface or rough mouth appliances or dentures n cheek bites. It can also b due to General nutrtional deficiency, digestion prob, work pressure n stressful lifestyle etc. Certain bacterial n viral infections also cause ulcers. Treatment: start on multivitamin tabs which includes vit c n iron supplements if ur hb% levels r low. Apply dologel oral ointment on ulcers thrice daily. Replace your missing tooth right away

Replace your missing tooth right away.

Missing teeth might look great in kids but not in adults.
If your tooth is missing it can lead to a whole lot of problems like cavities in the adjacent teeth, functional & esthetic impairement.
Also if a tooth is missing, the adjacent teeth start to drift in order to close the gap. Moreover the upper tooth starts drifting downwards if empty space is present & vice a versa. All this movement leads to sensitivity due to root exposure in the adjacent teeth or upper or lower teeth.
Hence it is very important to replace a tooth as soon as it is lost.
We can replace the tooth/teeth in 3 ways:
1. Removable Partial Denture
2. Bridge formation
3. Implant

Is there a treatment for bad breath? I should I go and ask the doctor abt it? And also which hospital offers treatment for bad breath/halitosis.

Is there a treatment for bad breath? I should I go and ask the doctor abt it? And also which hospital offers treatmen...
Hello, bad smell from mouth could be because of deposits or food lodgement between teeth. Visit a dentist and get your scaling and polishing done. It could also be because of cold, acidity, stomach problems, not drinking enough water, not eating or fasting for long intervals. Brush twice daily, floss regularly. You can avoid it by rinsing after every 1-2 hours.

My problem is teeth blood bleeding it is 1 year problem to me. Why it happens? What is the reason? How to control it?

BDS
Dentist, Kolkata
My problem is teeth blood bleeding it is 1 year problem to me.
Why it happens?
What is the reason?
How to control it?
Thanks for your question. 1) bleeding gums for a prolonged time may be due to gum inflammation mainly gingivitis.(depending upon its grade and severity it may be of several types). 2) all we know that if our oral hygiene is poor it may cause infection in our gum and surrounding teeth. Bleeding gum is a infection of gingiva caused by various bacterial species depending upon its severity. 3) oral hygiene maintenance is the 1st line treatment followed by oral prophylaxis (scaling) and regular tooth brushing particularly at night. Use 0.12% chlorhexidine m/w regularly twice a day initially.

Jaw is locked. Can not open mouth and also have problem of wisdom tooth on same side. Please advise.

BDS, MDS Prosthodontics
Dentist, Mumbai
Please visit your local dentist. If your daughter is between 18-25 it is very likely that the third molar/wisdom tooth is responsible for the same. She can try warm compresses at home or a muscle relaxant. If jaw is open and locked it needs to be treated by dentist.
