Why Indian Traditions Are Healthy

Indian traditions are more like the first lessons which are taught by the elders of the house. These traditions are often followed without any doubts and questions. These traditions are not just being followed for the sake of religious rituals, but have deep rooted scientific reasons associated with the same.

Some of the interpretations of these rituals are as follows:

  1. Namaste: When we greet someone or meet someone for the first time we join both our hands for Namaste. This is done out of sheer respect for the person. Doing Namaste activates the acupuncture points of the fingertips and helps us to remember the person.
  2. Ushapan: This is the practice of drinking water from a copper utensil. This helps in absorbing the extra heat of the body, thereby, maintaining the body temperature. The water should be kept overnight in the copper pot before drinking. It is believed that drinking water from a copper pot helps in bowel movement, cleaning of the stomach and creating digestive juices.
  3. Sukhasan: When one sits on the floor with crossed leg is referred to as sukhasan. For having food in this position a person has to bend while eating and has to move up and down while eating. When this happens, the stomach is pushed while bending and the back is straight before taking the next bite. This movement leads to muscular movements thereby, helping to produce digestive juices and aids in swallowing as well.
  4. Vamakukshi and Shatapawali: Vamakukshi is referred to as the afternoon nap post lunch. Sleeping on the left side helps in the digestion of the food. Though prolonged sleep can make a person lazy, a quick 10 minute nap is recommended as it allows a person to be fresh. Shatapwali means taking 100 steps, to be more appropriate it is the walk after dinner. This helps in the digestion of food as the gas created after consuming food is moved and the pressure in the chest is reduced. The above terms literally explain the famous phrase, "After lunch sleep a while, after dinner walk a mile."
  5. Ear Piercing: Though ear piercings are looked at as a fashion ornament, but as per the Hindu traditions, these help in decision making, thinking abilities and intellectual development and also to some extent an acupressure point. It is ideal to get a baby"s ear pierced by the 12th day of her birth, as it is believed that getting ears pierced early leads to acquiring the quality of minimal speech.
  6. Touching Feet of Elders: This is known as one of the best exercises as it aids in blood circulation, helps in stretching and pushing the organs, improves excretion and digestion and strengthens the physique. It is also believed to transfer an aura and positive energy from the person whose feet are being touched.

About a year ago i had a breakup, since then i have been suffering from depression, or so I presume, i have consulted counselors, tried everything possible to feel better, right from going out with friends, to eating healthy, taking adequate amount of sleep and whatever I could possibly do, however, i somehow have not been able to cope up with this,i still feel very low, i get zoned out, do not feel like doing anything, i just have developed a very gloomy attitude towards life. It is then established that this breakup was the cause. And you have tried most of what we would recommend to get out of this state. So, I won?t waste time on those considerations. I am going to wager a guess, and if I am completely off the mark, kindly excuse me. However, you can write again and clarify where I have gone wrong. So, here goes: I think that you may have had a poor relationship with your primary caretaker (your mom and sometimes father, though the later happens at a little later age) in early childhood and you are suffering from some dependency issues, which will concern trust, and acceptance needs. As a result you may have gotten into a symbiosis with your boyfriend trying to re-establish that failed relationship, somehow looking to resolve it. It won?t work because it is the wrong person and the relationship is based on a romantic one, with completely different agendas. If the other person is in the know of this need, he may perhaps help you fulfill that need but it will still have some major drawbacks in the actual working out of it. In that case, you will inadvertently become too clingy, controlling, demanding and tend to act in a regressed manner or even act with silly behaviors. Makes any sense? If this does, go and meet with a counselor and work out these unresolved childhood needs before venturing into a romantic relationship.

Follow these best tips to get in shape and loose weight.* body become over weight due to deposition of fatty tissues. First you should follow diet plan for weight loss. * in morning, take 2-3 chapattis witha bowl of cooked green vegetables. You can take a glass of without cream milk after 2 hour of breakfast. *in lunch you can take a bowl of soupor salad. *in evening, you can take a cup of teawith glucose biscuits. *in dinner, you can take a bowl of fruits or 2 chapattis with a bowl of vegetables. * for thighs - work out for atleast 1 hour in morning, you can try skipping for 15 minutes with a walk of 30 minutes and 5-10 minutes running. To reduce the tummy, * lie down on flat surface, raise your legs without bending your knees, do it for 3-5 times daily * lie down on plain surface, put your hands on the back of head by folding your elbows, now move your head towads the knees try to touch your knees with forehead and then move back and lie down. Repeat it for 5-10 times daily for flat tummy. * do surya namaskar yoga everyday, as surya namaskar have 12 forms of yoga. Do it for in morning everyday to get in shape in short period. * do not eat fastfoods and soft drinks, as they have high calories.

There are four main factors which causes acne: Oil production Dead skin cells Clogged pores Bacteria Factors that may worsen the acne: Androgen hormones, certain medications (drugs containing corticosteroids, androgens or lithium can worsen acne), dietary factors, including dairy products and carbohydrate-rich foods ? such as bread, bagels and chips ? may trigger acne and Stress can make acne worse. Management: Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Use home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater ? apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines ? Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day ? for 20 days.

Dear lybrate-user Firstly, if the medicines have been prescribed by the psychiatrists, I would suggest kindly do not stop it by your own self because the psychiatric medicines work at the neuro-chemical/neurotransmitter level too so it takes time to adapt and show any effect, Dizziness, heaviness/headache, sleeplesness are few common conditions, we witness when someone abruptly leaves the medicine. There is a myth that psychiatric conditions are lifetime and medicines are also for lifetime which is not really true. Thus, I would advise that you kindly consult your psychiatrist and be medicine compliant and also request your psychiatrist to suggest you a good psychologist who can help you at the symptoms level and to relieve them for future betterment. Hello you should consume more of fibre rich diet that includes raw fruits n veggies. Whole grains n pulses. Less refined sugar and oily stuffs. Try to follow a balanced diet to see results.

kindly get scaling done and use mouth wash twice daily for 15 days. brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene. also notice that you are not constipated most of the times as this is also one of the reasons for bad breath.

The reason of not gaining weight are * improper diet * indigestion (disease of stomach, loose motions) * worms in intestine * thyroid disorder * diabetes *addiction (smoking or alcoholism) dear you can easily gain weight and get a healthy muscular body by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow the diet chart in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3.
