Sir I am 19 year old sir my last period date is 12.03. 16 and its over on 16.03. 16 and meet my bf on 18.3. 16 and I have sex with him without any protection but now from 2 or 3 days there is pain in my lower of stomach and when I ate food I feel like vomit. Am I pregnant or how can I check this?

You should had to take emergency contraceptive pills with in 72 hr of unprotected sex. Now wait for next periods, if you miss then go for upt (urine pregnancy test). Don't worry vomiting and pain abdomen may be due to git infection.

I don't like to eat anything. I am 2 months pregnant. If I drink milk I feel like vomiting. Kindly suggest what should I do.

MBBS, DGO, DNB - Obstetrics and Gynecology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
First kindly accept my Congratulations on the good news, as regarding vomiting in pregnancy don't worry. It's a perfectly normal thing unless it gets so much that you start loosing weight and unable to retain anything. Try to have small frequent meals Avoid spicy and oily food Don't take solid and liquid in diet together, keep at least 20 minutes gap Mint is very effective in controlling nausea, try mint candy If all these fail please consult your doctor to prescribe medicine.

My wife gave birth of a baby on 21.11. 15. Till then, she had periods of around continuous 2 months. After that no period at all. Elders said it is normal. Is it ok to have physical without any precautions to avoid pregnancy. If no, she is thinking of taking anti-pregnancy pill to birth control. When should she start? And is it safe for our child? please suggest.

While breastfeeding, ovulation does not occur thats why no menses, but that is not the rule. Even without menstruation, ovulation can occur. Best contraceptive for the breast-feeding women is copper-t. While choosing a method of contraception, it is important that it not interfere with lactation or have negative effects on the infant. Iucd or copper t is more effective than condoms and progesterone only pills. Oc pills like novelon suppresses milk production. Progestin-only contraceptives or minipill like cerazette for 28 days are safe for use by breast-feeding mothers if copper t is not acceptable.

I am a 19 years girl. I had sex on 19 th of November and took ipill on the same day. My periods date was 26th of November but as I was scared of being pregnant I got a pregnancy test and checked it was negative I done it on today I.e. On 25 th of November so is it accurate?

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, FMAS, DMAS
Gynaecologist, Noida
Hello, no, it is not accurate simply because urine pregnancy test is sensitive only after 8 days post missed periods. However as you have taken ipill, so the withdrawal bleed should ideally start in next 7-10 days, so be patient. If in hurry, then please get a serum beta hcg test done to get conclusive results as on date.

Pain in breast at this age should not be ignored. Go for proper check up for any lump, discharge or retraction of nipple, increase in size etc.

I am 20 years old and I have concern regarding my breasts i. E whatever dress I wear my nipples are popped out to dress and easily visible. Request you to advise me on what measures to be taken to avoid it completely so that I am able to wear any type of dress.

FMAS, MS
General Surgeon, Gandhinagar
Respected lybrate-user heena first of all don't worry as it is natural thing regarding nipple size shape. So far as projection in dress is concerned you definately have to use padded braziers & with that dresses with less transparency that's all dear.

My husband has HIV? Can I still get pregnant if we have physical relation with him?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
Dear if your husband is hiv positive, pregnancy can occur like a normal person on having sex. Before that pl check your hiv status. If you are not hiv positive then possibility of you and your unborn contracting hiv is very high.

Hi we are married fr 4 years now. Trying to convince from last two months but nt succeeding. Which doctor to consult ?A gync or fertility specialist doctors. So that v cn hve proper guidance n counselling on how to convince fast. Thanks.

The chance of conception is only 20% per cycle. Around 80% couples conceive in 1 year; so two months of trying is too short a time. Having said that it is important to have a preconception check preferably by a fertility specialist since you're in your 30's and also your BMI is not in a healthy range.

Hi, My weight is 60 kg and height is 153 cm. I had c-section two months ago. How much should I reduce? I breast feed my baby. Suggest some ideas to reduce weight.

MSC Nutrition and Dietetics, M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Hyderabad
Hello, As i can see you have not put on much in your pregnancy, but do take care that you don't put on weight during lactating period. It is a common notion that you need to eat for two, specially from the mothers, so i would like to suggest you take in 500 calories more, which you will get from eating 2 more chapatis, 1 catorie more of rice and from 1 serving of vegetables and 2 serving of fruits. Also you will take into consideration the ghee and oil and all the sweets. Have small meals rather that three large meals and also have lote of water. Since you have had a C-section, dont jump in strenious exercises without consultation with your Gyneac. Do come for consultation for details diet chart

One of my friend had sex with his bf now she is afraid that she is pregnant . what should she do?

Thank you for your question. The commonest side effect of unprotected intercourse is a sexually transmitted infection followed by unwanted pregnancy. If your friend thinks she is pregnant she needs to do a pregnancy test with an early morning sample of her urine. If it is positive and she does not wish to be pregnant she needs to see a gynaecologist who can discuss the options for termination of pregnancy. Termination of pregnancy can only be carried out by a licenced medical practitioner in a government recognized center for termination of pregnancy. She will need to have an ultrasound examination and attend the hospital to complete the paperwork before any procedure can be carried out. If her pregnancy test is negative she can wait for 15 days for her period to come. If the period does not come and the test is still negative she should see the gynaecologist for further examination and tests. Regarding contraception, if she is likely to continue to be sexually active she needs to discuss her contraceptive choices with the gynaecologist and choose a method which suits her. This needs to be used in addition to condoms. Condoms are very good at preventing infections if used correctly but are often associated with a higher failure rate relating to unwanted pregnancies. Hope this helps best wishes.
