What are the symptoms of diabetes? Is drinking tea again and again that is more than 5 times a day is injurious for me?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

What are the symptoms of diabetes? Is drinking tea again and again that is more than 5 times a day is injurious for me?
Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes mellitus is of mainly two types t1, where there is no insulin at in the body, this occurs early in childhood or teen ages most often. Patients have to take insulin for treatment and for survival. T2 usually occurs in later years, here there is either lack of insulin or resistance to its action or both. Most often these patients are over weight and lead a very sedentary life style. Treatment is with either oral anti-diabetes drugs or with insulin or both together. As regards in general diabetes hardly produces any easily recognisable symptoms, hence most people do not come to know about the presence of the disease. Commonly associated symptoms are excess urination, excess hunger, excess thirst, unexplained weight loss and early fatigue and tiredness. Taking tea more number of times has really no effect on diabetes, unless it has a lot of sugar. Otherwise tea can lead to hyperacidity, nothing to with diabetes. It can also disturb sleep, if taken late in the evening or night. Thanks for the question.

I have fungus infection rashes at thigh what should I do?

BHMS
Homeopath,
I have fungus infection rashes at thigh what should I do?
Hello, The tendency for fungus to recur in many adults, especially on the feet and toenails, is a genetic condition. Their skin cannot recognize the fungus as foreign and get rid of it. After having a fungus there for a while the body's immune system learns to live with the fungus and no longer tries to get rid of it. Steps to prevent fungal infection of the skin includes: - Daily washing of the thighs with soap and water. - Drying the area thoroughly and using a quality foot powder can also help prevent fungal infection. - Change clothes -- especially underwear – everyday (prefer cotton clothes). - Keep the area clean, cool and dry. - Family members and close personal contacts should treat any fungus infections they may have to avoid trading back and forth. - Discard old inners. Do not share clothes sp. inners with others. Medication: Tellurium 200/ twice daily and Sulphur 200/ once a day daily - take them for 2 weeks. Revert me back there after.

4 Dietary Changes that can Increase Your Chances of Getting Pregnant

4 Dietary Changes that can Increase Your Chances of Getting Pregnant

At times being able to conceive becomes a challenge due to certain biological reasons. Feeling positive and eating healthy naturally takes you a step nearer to getting pregnant. In case of no medical condition acting as an obstruction, consuming the right food can increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Here’s a list of supplements you can include in your diet to maximise your chances of getting pregnant.

1. Choose whole grains over refined carbohydrates: Reducing the intake of refined carbohydrates (found in milk, potatoes, corn to name a few) can reduce inflammation of the genitals, which will help increase fertility. You can still continue to have your favourite foods, but ensure they are low GI (glycaemic index- a figure used to represent the ability of carbohydrate to increase glucose in blood) carbohydrates.

You can consume whole grains, which help in reducing insulin levels that in turn reduce the risk of heart diseases and diabetes and also help lower cholesterol levels. Try having whole grain bread instead of white bread and porridge instead of sugary processed cereals to reduce your GI ingestion.

2. Harness the power of Proteins: Proteins are an important part of your diet and the type of proteins you require careful consideration as they help make new hormones. Try having 25gms of vegetable protein like seeds, legumes and nuts instead of animal protein.

Add dairy foods to your diet as they are also a rich source of protein. They provide vital minerals and nutrients like magnesium, calcium and vitamin B12 to the body and at the same time are low in calories. Include milk, yoghurt and cottage cheese to your meals so that you have a minimum of three servings of dairy products a day, which is essential to meet your nutritional needs and increase your chances of having a baby.

3. Welcome Good Fats: Processed foods, fatty meats and takeaways are high in saturated fats including trans fats. These lead to inflammation and an increase of oxygen free radicals in the body, which decrease fertility. So, incorporate good fats in your diet in controlled quantities. Try having avocado and tomato on a whole grain toast, for instance.

4. Make folate an integral part of your diet: Folate is an essential nutrient that helps in decreasing the incidence of birth defects in babies, while ensuring a healthy conception. Along with the prescribed supplements, try to increase its intake in its natural form. The best way to do this is by having green leafy vegetables, which are a rich source of folate. You can also have veggie sticks and vegetable soup along or green vegetable dishes to increase your folate intake.

Weakness is a result of lack of physical or muscle strength. If you are feeling that extra effort is required to move your arms, legs, or other muscles, it could also be a result of any disease, illness and too much activity at one time and not taking the food to match the amount of physical effort you are doing. Sometimes low levels of minerals (electrolytes), such as potassium or sodium also result in body weakness. Other important reason could be the problems with your thyroid gland. Because your thyroid gland is responsible for regulating the way the body uses energy. A low thyroid level can cause fatigue, weakness, laziness, weight gain etc. And a high thyroid level can cause fatigue, weight loss, muscle weakness etc. Sometime because of stress you may feel disinterest in your routine works. Since the reasons for your weakness are not known, I shall advise the following - 1. Keep yourself hydrated. 2. Get extra rest for some days till you feel more energetic. 3. Avoid watching television for long hours. Indulge in relaxing activities. 4. Avoid stress and too much physical exertion. 5. Take a nutritious diet with more protein items in homemade food like soya, sprouts, dals, paneer, milk, seasonal fruits. 6. Do light physical activity, meditation and yoga. 7. Take one good multivitamin tablet after food for 7 days.
