BDS

There are various causes for mouth ulcers. If in a particular area it can be due to sharp tooth. Certain nutritional deficiencies like vitamin b12 can also cause cause. Low haemoglobin, certain immunologic diseases. So do visit a dentist and rule out any dental cause. Or physician for other causes.

Brushing Myths
Brushing once a day is ok. Wrong. Brushing should be twice a day.

Ans. 1: Most branded toothpaste are almost the same. It is the brushing technique that matters.

Is Jaw expansion for 30 years old person possible who is having a smokers pallet. Is it possible to cure a chain smokers pallets.

Jaw expansion is possible in adults with or without surgery it also depends on how much expansion is needed. You must approach an orthodontist for better results. And for smokers palate if you stop the habit you can see the change in colour to normal in few days. Only way of treating your palate is stop smoking. Take lot of greens and fruit in diet. Hope this helps.

I have yellow teeth so please tell me some incentives so that I can remove thi yellowish colour from my teeth.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
There are many causes of yellow or discolored teeth. A few of the most common: 1.Drinks: Coffee and red wine cause major damage to teeth.. But other drinks with high acidity, such as soda, juices and even sports drinks can cause staining on the teeth. Even white wine is not far behind in staining our teeth yellow, because its tannins and acidic nature wear away at the tooth enamel. These Acidic drinks lowers the Ph of teeth below 6 thus causing corrosive wear and tear of teeths. 2.Certain Foods: Colored candies, popsicles and other bright foods can cause staining over time. Think of it this way – if your tongue turns a bright shade of blue, chances are your teeth are getting some of that discoloration, too. Even healthy foods such as berries (blueberries, cranberries, raspberries) can stain teeth. Ketchup, curry and other sauces can cause staining problems over time, too. 3,Natural Aging Process: Quite simply, teeth yellow over time. It’s a natural part of the aging process that the white protective coatings wear down over time. So the longer you have your teeth, the more likely they are to become yellow or discolored. 4.Most of us are guilty of at least some of the above (and none of us can stop time). But the good news is that even if red wine is one of your vices and your teeth look yellower lately, there are things you can do to bring back the white. 5.How to make Teeth white (a)Avoid Certain Foods/Drinks When Possible: We’re not asking you to give up your morning coffee, just to reduce the intake of the above foods as much as possible. Sometimes simply being aware can help us make better choices. (b)Drink Water: After you’ve consumed a tooth-staining food or drink try to immediately follow it with a glass of water. Swirling water around your mouth can drastically help clear away the acids or staining. This simple step is free and easy, and can drastically help reduce tooth discoloration. (c)Proper Dental Hygiene: Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental checkups help keep teeth healthy for a lifetime. Develop these habits early and you’re less likely to have dental problems down the line. (d)Teeth Whitening: The good news is that there are many options available to whiten teeth. Some can be done at home while others can take help of Homoeopathic medicines. Homoeopathic medicine HEKLA LAVA TOOTH POWDER ( WHEEZAL) Scrub teeth daily night RINSEOUT ( SBL) Gargles 20 drops in 20 ml luke warm water.Gargles 3 times daily while holding water for 20 seconds in mouth esp.after meals.

I was suffered from periodontal problem and that was cured by deep cleaning and grafting a month back. Now there is big gap between my teeth after the stitch removed from the gum line. I want to know that the gums will grow back to cover the gaps between the teeth. Or some another treatment required?

BDS
Dentist, Kanchipuram
Hi Aravinth, The receded gums will not grow after periodontal surgery. if it is esthetically bothering you, you have to undergo a gingival uplifting procedure. If it cannot be surgically corrected you can go for multiple crowns to cover the gaps. kindly consult a periodontist in ur area he will help you.
