All tests normal- is a good sign. That is called unexplained infertility. The pregnancy is not coming due to chance factor alone. So, start treatment of infertility. We have seen very good success rates in these cases.

Is it possible to be 9 weeks pregnant but still get negative urine pregnancy test results repeatedly multiple times? (tested every week for the past nine weeks starting from the date of last missed period. Negative result every time).

Is it possible to be 9 weeks pregnant but still get negative urine pregnancy test results repeatedly multiple times? ...
No it is not possible for you to be pregnant after a negative HPT even after one month of missed periods and there are many other reasons for Delayed periods other than pregnancy in your case like- 1. Lifestyle---- •extreme weight loss or weight gain •excessive exercise •stress - 2. Polycystic ovary syndrome-Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) occurs when very small cysts (small, fluid-filled sacs) develop in the ovaries. The usual symptoms of PCOS are irregular or light periods or no periods at all. This is because, in women with PCOS, ovulation (the release of an egg) may not take place as often as normal. The production of hormones may also be unbalanced, and you could have higher levels of testosterone than normal. Testosterone is a male hormone that women usually have a small amount of. 3. Thyroid disorders-A thyroid disorder is another possible, but rare, cause of irregular periods. The thyroid gland, found in the neck, produces hormones that maintain the body's metabolism (the chemical processes your body uses to turn food into energy). Your Gynae may test for a thyroid problem by taking a blood test to check levels of thyroid hormones in your blood. ---------------------- 4. Medicines-Prolonged Usage of Certain Anti inflammatory can also lead to absence of Menstrual bleeding------------

I am 38 yrs old &my wife is 32 yrs old we both are trying to have a child but yet not my wife got pregnant will sir please advice me to have a child

MBBS, MD
Gynaecologist,
You have not mentioned how many years are you married for and trying to conceive, and whether you both have got any tests done earlier or any medicines taken for the same. Usually 80% of the couples in the general population will conceive within 1 year of uninterrupted trying to conceive. After one year of attempting, if no success, one may have to consult a gyn doctor or infertility expert. The initial assessment consists of your detailed history taking and clinical examination, followed by some basic tests. Lifestyle changes like avoiding smoking or regular alcohol intake and caffeinated beverages if any, avoiding over-the-counter or recreational drugs if any, maintaining optimum body weight( so that bmi is between 18. 5 to 23 ), etc. Are important. Folic acid supplementation to wife while trying to conceive is recommended. Stress in the male or female partner can affect relationship and likely to reduce libido and frequency of intercourse which contribute to fertility problems. Moreover investigations and treatment of fertility problems take long time and both should be prepared for it.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Sometimes, emergency contraception can change the length of your monthly menstrual cycle, making your next period come as much as a week earlier or a week later than usual. Some women also find that the hormones in the pills can cause unexpected bleeding, but this is not a common or serious side effect. Take care.

LABOUR PAINS ARE ON THE WHOLE UTERUS AND NOT AT A SINGLE POINT. THEY FOLLOW PERFECT RHYTHM, INCREASE IN FREQUENCY AND DURATION. YOUR EXPECTED DATE IS 10 SEPT. I THINK WHAT YOUR ARE EXPERIENCING IS BECAUSE OF THE HEAD IMPACTION IN THE LOWER PART OF YOUR ABDOMEN.

Ways of Dealing with Intestinal Distress

MS - Surgery, MAMS, Senior Residency , MBBS, Fellow IAGES
Gastroenterologist, Delhi
Ways of Dealing with Intestinal Distress

Undigested food that lurks around in the digestive tract produces a host of disorders due to intestinal distress. These disorders range from acidity to gastro-oesophageal reflux and even colon diseases like cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, gallstones, ulcers and Crohn's disease. Cramps, nausea, vomiting, loose motions, gas, and acidity are some of the most common symptoms that visit the patient as a result of such ailments. There are many ways of dealing with such intestinal distress, as follows :-

  1. Diet: Introduce plenty of fibre into your diet to aid the digestion process. This can cut the risk of many such ailments and also aid in the treatment of the same. Intestinal distress is largely caused by food that is still lurking around in the digestive tract, so it is important to clean out the digestive system with plenty of fibre and water.
  2. Nutrition for better Digestive System Health: Food that is rich in minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and iron will help in creating a stronger system that cleanses the digestive tract and helps in reducing the production of excess acid in the stomach. A balanced diet with plenty of nutrition aids digestion and makes the immunity stronger.
  3. Study your Triggers: Watch out for foods that can trigger reflux action and other acidity related issues on the intake. These can include fatty food, fried and oily food as well as extremely spicy food. Stress is also a major trigger of intestinal distress, so it would be a good idea to avoid stressful situations or take medical help to deal with them in a better manner.
  4. Medication: Antacids and other medication to prevent the onset and growth of such distress can be sought out after due consultation with a medical practitioner. Medication will help in dealing with and altering the acid level production in the stomach.
  5. Surgery: In very extreme cases like ulcers and large size gallstones, surgery may be helpful so that you avoid rupturing the stomach's lining which can lead to a serious infection or even internal bleeding.

Knowing your triggers and getting into a better routine as far as your diet goes is as important as seeing a doctor about the severity of your case when it comes to intestinal distress.

At 39 years, you are in perimenopausal age where menses are bound to be irregular. Iregular periods are not a disease, its natural to have irregular periods, especially in your age group and in teenage girls ultrasound reports nowadays mention pcod in many cases, that doesnot mean you have pcod. If you wish to have pregnancy, you can get treated by gynecologist who will help you with the medicines not only to cure your pcod but also pregnancy. If you have finished having a family and do not want anymore, then the tablets are the best treatment for you, continue them for as long as your menses are there.
