My eye lids are halfly closed. I am having this problem for past 10 years. I consulted madurai aravind eye hospital. They told that no problem in vision. This is due to neuro problem. Is it possible to rectify it.

Actually there is less nerve supply to the muscle which holds the eyelids to keep eyes open and hence there is ptosis and if necessary we can resect the involved muscle but it has got its own complications

I am 28 years old. I am working as software engineer. If I work for 7 hours continuously I wil get eye pain and irritation. So what is the solution for that?

FICO, Specialist in Cataract,Cornea and refractive surgeries , MD - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Srinagar
Some people who have a minimal refractive error will often get away without wearing glasses, but when working on a computer screen or doing a lot of concentrated work, the small prescription can begin to cause symptoms and under these circumstances correcting the prescription with glasses can be helpful. An anti-reflection coating (Ultraclear) is often advised to reduce the annoying reflections of light from the lens surfaces. If your eyes are fine and normal then there is no proven glasses that can be prescribed to help. However, some people find that wearing glasses with a tint that absorbs the blue spectrum of light makes vision more comfortable. They are usually tinted a yellow colour. A common problem when working on a screen for long periods is 'dry eye'. This is because concentrated work tends to reduce the blink reflex that replenishes the tears, and the dry atmosphere and lack of fresh air adds to the problem of insufficent tears. Allowing the cornea to become dry can cause irritation and blurred and variable vision. Use some lubricating eye drops like refresh tearsthat use them at least 4 times a day at least. You do need to look at every aspect of your work environment also. Use proper lighting , dont work in dim conditions Blink frequently in between.

Diet for EYESIGHT Lutein and zeaxanthin are both important nutrients for eye health, 6 as both of them are found in high concentrations in your macula—the small central part of your retina responsible for detailed central vision. More specifically, lutein is also found in your macular pigment – known for helping to protect your central vision and aid in blue light absorption—and zeaxanthin is found in your retina. Estimated daily dose of lutein is 10 mg per day, and at 2 mg/day for zeaxanthin. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are primarily found in green leafy vegetables, although zeaxanthin is far scarcer than lutein. Kale and spinach are two of the most lutein-rich foods, but you'll also find it in carrots, squash, and other orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids called xanthophylls, which give plants and vegetables their yellow-orange color, and the name" lutein" comes from the Latin word" luteus, which means" yellow. If you remember this, it may help you pick out vegetables that are likely to contain higher amounts of these two nutrients. Egg yolk is another source of both lutein and zeaxanthin that is well absorbed by your body Most of the dark green leafy vegetables, previously recommended for a higher intake of lutein and zeaxanthin, have 15-47 percent of lutein, but a very low content (0-3 percent) of zeaxanthin. Study shows that fruits and vegetables of various colors can be consumed to increase dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthi It is also important to note that lutein is an oil-soluble nutrient, so if you eat the vegetables without some oil or butter your body can't absorb the lutein. Adding a little bit of healthy fat, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or raw organic butter, will maximize your lutein absorption. Lutein content in food FoodMg / serving Orange (Raw)0.2/1 large Egg0.2/1 large Spinach (cooked)20.4 / 1 cup Papaya (Raw)0.3/1 large Turnip greens (cooked)12.2 / 1 cup Green peas (cooked)4.1 / 1 cup Spinach (raw)3.7 / 1 cup Corn (cooked)1.5 / 1 cup Broccoli (raw)1.3 / 1 cup Broccoli (cooked)0.8 / 1/2 cup Green beans (cooked)0.9 / 1 cup--------------------- Being a homoeopath, I will advise you to undergo homoeopathic treatment as homoeopathic medicine along with exercises aand a diet plan are very effective combination for improving eyesight. I have yellow eyes for a long time. What should I do to remove this yellowness form my eyes.?
Could be due to allergy allergy can be controlled easily using eye drops. But there are many eye drops and specific eye drops can only be prescribed after seeing the eye clinically as treatment depends on severity. Also dip a handkerchief in little cold water and keep over closed eyes. You will feel better.

My daughter, age 17 yrs, had blunt trauma in her right eye during jun'14. She had one optic nerve damaged and has lost Patial vision ( presently 6/18 in r/e. Laser ws also done in the ratina. Initially her intraculur pressure was increased due to heavy steroids. But now every thing has been stabilized. All allopathic medicine have been stopped. Doctor says that now vision would not be improved. We are also not bothered about vision much and satisfied with 6/18 in r/e and 6/6 in l/e. However she is still have pains in her eye, which is not understandable to doctors. Kindly guide

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
It could be nothing serious. As long as she is on regular follow-ups and her Intaocular pressure is being monitored you should not worry. If there is a mild pain you can try some good lubricating eye drops (like Lubrex, Tear Drops, Add Tears) 3-4 times per day. If there is any associated redness then it is better that you consult your doctor.
