There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

Hi. The sound that you are describing is a'click' that is heard when there is a problem in the temporomandibular joint (jaw joint). Don't worry, it can be managed. But a thorough clinical examination and radiographic assessment of the joint (x rays) are important. I would advice you to consult an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for a detailed examination and further treatment.

Hi, there are various reasons of bad breath, like impurities in blood, inefficient digestive system, dry mouth (lack of saliva production), gum disease, cavities, plaque and tartar formation around teeth and gums, kind of diet, improper brushing / cleaning of mouth etc. I would advise you to get a thorough physical and dental examination to rule out the cause of bad breath and to solve it permanently. My wife 28 years old had been going for her Braces treatment from Orthodontist since last more than a year! The doctor has said it is not required to extract the teeth and we continued the treatment in home town M. P. Now we have shifted to Hyderabad and whn consulted the doctors we got different opinion. One says 4 teeth needs to be removed, other says no extraction is required, another says only one tooth needs to be removed. Now we are so confused as what to do and which doctor is correct. We have already given almost one and half for the treatment and paid almost the full amount. Again if we have to go thru entire year then its really frustrating. As we are new to Hyderabad we hardly know any good doctor (for me a good doctor is not who is more qualified and has more degrees rather the one who is not money minded and can give the right suggestion based on his experience). Please guide us.

Hi, usually, the number to tooth required for extraction depends on how much other teeth need to be moved in the jaw and the size of the jaw. It usually differs from patient to patient. If you have lot of crowding of teeth and you have small jaw then you may need to extract 4 teeth, but if there is sufficient space for the movement of the teeth, then there is no need for any extraction. I will be able to give you better advice if you can share your treatment history with me along with some picture and x rays. Hope you found this helpful.

I drink something cold, I feel on my teeth. Which medicines or toothpaste you would recommend me?

I drink something cold, I feel on my teeth. Which medicines or toothpaste you would recommend me?
Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. Changing the toothbrush alone donot keeps your teeth clean. All toothpaste have nearly similar ingredients like Abrasives, Fluorides, Surfactants, Antibacterial agents, Flavourants, Remineralizers, Fluoride, Diethylene glycol, Triclosan etc. Only the wrong brushing technique that we follow harms our teeth and gums. So consult your dentist, learn proper brushing technique, Brush your teeth twice a day, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush to protect your teeth and gums from plaque and calculus. Floss your teeth inter dentally once a day. Consume a healthy diet rich in vegetables and lean protein. Reduce your intake of sugary foods and beverages. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Drink plenty of fluoridated tap water. Drink not consume alcohol drinks. Don’t smoke.

I am 21 year old I have bad breath all time and I brush 3 times a day but it not working.

I am 21 year old I have bad breath all time and I brush 3 times a day but it not working.
Dear lybrate-user, 3 times brushing routine should help in reducing bad breath. However if it is not helping there are chances that there may be decayed teeth in the mouth or infected gums which are causing the bad breath. You may see a dentist and get your mouth evaluated for any such cause. If this cause is eliminated, your bad breathe will also stop.

I have lost two teeth. Is it necessary to go for denture? Is there any alternative? If I do not do anything will it affect my digesting system? Please advice. Thanks.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Hi! any lost teeth requires replacement either by way of denture, fixed brigde or implants.Loosing teeth n not replacing them can result in the movement of ur other teeth and can change the overall bitting pattern of ur mouth as well as causes changes in the musculature of ur jaw joint. It is highly recommended that u replace them .

I have gap in my teeth. Also my two front teeth are very wide, approx 10.5 to 11mm. My doctor is saying that before going for braces, I should have rct on both teeth and shape it to reduce its width. Is it good to go for rct and alter the natural teeth or should I go for braces without changing width of these two teeth.
