Skin Warts - Laser Surgery For Removing Them!

M. Ch. (Plastic Surgery)
Dermatologist, Pune
Skin Warts - Laser Surgery For Removing Them!

Warts refer to a type of a deformity in the skin, which refers to the formation of a small, hard, benign growth on the surface of the skin. It is generally caused by a viral infection and results in a feeling of discomfort or pain. Additionally, laser surgery is a technique, which uses a sharp and strong beam of light to destroy the wart tissue from the skin. The surgical process is usually performed at a doctor's clinic or chamber, under proper medical supervision.

When should you consider laser surgery?
Ideally a laser surgery should be your last resort to remove a wart when all the other means of removing a wart have failed. You should opt for a laser surgery only under the following circumstances:

  • Medicines have not been able to remove the wart
  • Warts are large and widespread
  • Appearance of warts during pregnancy (only after consulting your doctor)

What should you keep in mind? Before opting for surgery:

A laser surgery is a quite complicated process, but its effects are rapid and effective. Some of the things to be kept in mind before you actually opt for a laser treatment are as follows:

  • Laser technology does not lead to scarring on the skin
  • The surgery requires a local anesthetic, which is used for making the affected body part numb
  • Laser treatments should not be used as an initial treatment
  • It is a sure shot way to remove warts

Post surgery:
After a laser surgery the wound is generally painful depending upon the intensity, location and number of warts that are removed. Some of the probable outcomes of a laser surgery are as follows:

  • Bleeding of warts lasting upto 1 week
  • Mild to severe pain
  • Short lived fever
  • Yellowish discharge, which is to be cleaned

7 Causes Of Jock Itch And Its Treatment!

7 Causes Of Jock Itch And Its Treatment!

Jock itch can be defined as a fungal infection affecting the skin, especially around the inner thighs, genitals, buttocks or the groin region. Also called ‘tinea cruris’, this condition triggers irritation that results from the ring-shaped red rashes that primarily affect the warm and moist regions of one’s body. This condition majorly affects people who sweat excessively, such as athletes or even people who are over-weight. Although it is often bothersome and uncomfortable, jock itch doesn’t bring about severe complications for the affected individual. Jock itch can easily be cured by keeping the groin region dry and applying topical anti-fungal medications.

Symptoms:

The main symptoms of Jym itch include itchy and painful rashes in the buttock, inner thigh or the groin region. The rash is usually tan, red or brown in color, slightly scaly and often formed at the edges.

Causes:

  1. Putting on damp, wet or unlaundered clothing, such as athletic supporter and very tight underwear or wearing them frequently.

  2. Sharing towels that were used by a person suffering from the same condition.

  3. Taking showers irregularly, especially after excessive sweating or exercising.

  4. Living in hot and humid conditions.

  5. Obesity.

  6. Wearing tight clothing.

  7. Immune system disorders.

Treatment:

  1. Anti-fungal creams or lotions can help treat ringworm of the groin. Few examples are Miconazole, Econazole, Clotrimazole and Ketoconazole. These medications should be applied twice a day for about two to four weeks.

  2. In case the eruptions start to ooze fluids or pus, antibiotics may be administered by the doctor.

General Measures:

Measures to prevent recurrence of tinea cruris include weight reduction (if obese), wearing less occlusive clothing, drying thoroughly after bathing, using topical antifungal powders, laundering contaminated clothing, and treating concomitant fungal infection of nail of feet, if present.

Dear Lybrate user As there are so many reasons of pimples on the covered area lije sweating etc. Tight clothes can irritate your skin. Change clothes with sweat or oil as soon as possible. Monitor sun exposure. Sun can help with superficial acne, but it also can encourage the production of sebum and lesions. Always use a sunscreen. Try a warm compress to loosen and soften any acne lesions. Let me know some more details about you so call back for proper cure .You may contact me for on line chat.

Tanning is because of sun exposure. Use of a sunscreen is mandatory 30mins before sunexposure. Use of a lotion containing glycolic acid or kojic acid will help in decreasing the tan a little faster.

Dry Skin Care!

Dry Skin Care!

Reasons for dry skin

Unhealthy lifestyles, exposures to extreme wealth conditions, bathing for long time in hot water, using harsh soaps, harsh cosmetics, can cause drying of skin.

Ayurveda's point of view about dry skin

According to texts of ayurveda, dry skin is caused by increased vat dosh in the body. When vaat dosha increases in the body, it reduces kaha dosha and makes skin dry and wrinkled.

The causes which increases vaat dosha in the body

1) exposure to cold and dry climate
2) controlling natural urges like urination, defecation, hunger, thirst etc
3) keeping awake till night
4) irregular food habits
5) consumption of spicy, dry and bitter food

You can use aloe vera juice/gel from its leaf (fresh), not from ready made gels available in market. Apply it every day. For this homeopathic treatment is very effective. Use some sunblock with SPF (at least 50) every time you go out in sun. U need proper constitutional med to get permanent relief. Ask for consultation with pics of affected area so that I can help you better.
