Dhat Syndrome: Loss of Calcium in Urine

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Srinagar
Dhat Syndrome: Loss of Calcium in Urine

Many persons report to doctors complaining about weakness, backache, loss of energy and other vague symptoms attributing these all to the loss of calcium and sometime semen with urine. How do they get to this conclusion? They may have noticed ‘white discharge (particularly in morning sample) in urine, they leak few drops of white discharge while talking to women (talking over phone included) or thinking about them, their neighborhood ‘test wala’ (lab technician) report their urine containing a few calcium carbonate crystals (anyways its almost always same test wala or ‘medical wala’ (medical store owner) who orders their urinalysis in first instance), they suffer (as per them) from frequent night emissions associated with wet dreams or without wet dreams and so on (list is exhaustive).
This is precipitated and perpetuated by commonly held belief about extreme preciousness of semen in sub-continental cultures including ours. This is based on an old hindu belief that it takes forty drops of blood to create a drop of bone marrow and forty drops of bone marrow to create a drop of sperm (wikipedia). These persons usually spend good amount of resources for treatment of ‘calcium or semen loss’ without much success.
This is actually a neuro-asthenic syndrome first described by professor (dr) narendra wig as ‘dhat syndrome’.
Females also suffer from an equivalent syndrome characterized by excessive vaginal discharge or leucorrhea, which is again considered a" precicious fluid.
Reassurance and proper education is the mainstay of treatment. Many times counseling, anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medications are needed.

Frequent urination may be caused by diseases affecting the urinary tract at any level. The urinary tract includes the kidneys, the tubes connecting the kidneys to the bladder (ureters), the bladder, and the duct through which urine flows from the bladder out of the body (urethra).thus a proper assessment by a G.P. is needed

Which pathological test is to be conducted for chlamydia? Like blood test or urine test. Specific name of the test pls?

Which pathological test is to be conducted for chlamydia? Like blood test or urine test. Specific name of the test pls?
There are a few lab tests to diagnose chlamydia. They may ask a urine sample and a cotton swab for a sample from your vaginal area to investigate the chlamydia and match it from the symptoms one has to confirm the diagnosis. Regular use of antibiotics for the same puts the flora of vagina into imbalance and the susceptibility to redevelop the infections are higher along with some side effects. Homeopathy is recommended highly for such infections.

Hello doctor .if creatinine level rises to 1.8 what does it signs and how to reduce creatinine and uric acid in blood.
I recommend the following 1. Find out how much of protein you are losing in the urine. Protein in urine rises the creatinine. tablets like ace/arb can reduce protein in urine 2. Avoid red meat 3. Avoid weight lifting exercises 4. Tab nephrosave twice daily has given good results in my patients 5. Most importantly make sure bp is within 130/70 at all times

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine; in simple terms, it means a person urinates when they do not want to. Control over the urinary sphincter is either lost or weakened. Urinary incontinence is a much more common problem than most people realize. The definition of urinary incontinence in men is the unintentional loss of urine. Weak or damaged bladder muscles, overactive bladder muscles, certain prostate conditions, and nerve damage are just some of the possible underlying causes of urinary incontinence in men.infections can irritate your bladder, causing you to have strong urges to urinate, and sometimes incontinence. Other signs and symptoms of urinary tract infection include a burning sensation when you urinate and foul-smelling urine. Constipation. Nightfall is not a disease and is normal in men

the tes is to see if he has The MPS Diseases. The Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are rare genetic disorders in children and adults. They involve an abnormal storage of mucopolysaccharides, caused by the absence of a specific enzyme. Without the enzyme, the breakdown process of mucopolysaccharides is incomplete. Mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of metabolic disorders caused by the absence or malfunctioning of lysosomal enzymes needed to break down molecules called glycosaminoglycans.he age of onset and severity of Mucopolysaccharidosis type II (MPS II) differ depending on the form. Signs of severe MPS II usually begin between ages two and four. The symptoms of Hunter syndrome (MPS II) are generally not apparent at birth, but usually start to become noticeable after the first year of life.Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) and related diseases are genetic lysosomal storage diseases (LSD) caused by the body's inability to produce specific enzymes. Normally, the body uses enzymes to break down and recycle materials in cells.

Hello Lybrate User, Take homeopathic treatment for kidney stones. Kidneys are one of the most essential organs of our body, which help us to filter out the waste in our bloodstream. The byproduct of this waste is our urine. Stones develop due to mineral deposits in our urine that stick together in the kidneys. So, these stones develop due to a lack of water that dilutes the accumulated minerals on the lining of our kidneys. Follow below tips to get rid from kidney stones - * Increase your water intake. Drink water at least 2 - 3 liters/day i.e. Stay properly hydrated. * Diet - eat a healthy diet which is rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low fat dairy products. * Do not work out excessively to prevent excessive sweating and dehydration. * Avoid processed foods, because processed foods have high salt content, cut down on the amount of soda and energy drinks. * Reduce animal protein, such as meat, eggs and fish. * Avoid high oxalate foods including chocolate, peppers. * Eat watermelon, which contains Potassium and large amount of water. Potassium helps to keep kidneys function healthy. Drink lemon juice, it is full of natural citrate, which inhibits kidney stone formation. There are many homoeopathic remedies will help you to get rid of kidney stones. Take care.
