One of the most common health problems people have is indigestion.   6. Meditation: This is one of the best ways to give digestion a positive push with a good dose of mindfulness and awareness for better balance in the body.
  7. Avoiding unhealthy food: One must avoid unhealthy food that are excessively fried, fatty, sweet or cold so as to aid the digestive fires in doing their job effectively.

Hi Doctors, My baby is 1 month 10 days old and suffering from gas problems doctor has suggested carmicide syrup regularly but I am reluctant to give it as well my granny suggests gripe water and says she has given to all of us Please advise what can I do.

Hello lybrate-user! Yes gripe water and bonisson are good you can give daily till 1 year twice a day! But when you see that problem is increasing you can give carmicide or colicaid etc gas and colic for sos purpous! But not daily! And yes burping after every feed is v imp! Tc.

I has been suffering for acidity since last 2 week. When I wake up in the morning my teeth and tongue becomes sour. When I eat any fried foods or mild spicy foods loose motion starts. Please give me solution.

Hello. 5 days back. Blood comes while motion. From tat day my intestine and all are feels relax/loose to me. Previous I had some constipation and use to go motion Once in 1 or 2 days. Now I am going daily. But I feel burn in Penis while urine and burn while Motion. Kindly suggest Is it normal or What. Can it be cure with Medicines. Hi there. I think you are having a small or mild form of anal fissure. Burning in urine may be due to infection or less water intake. Avoid spicy/oily/junk food. Drink lot of water. I'm 23 years old and I have gas problem since ages. Never took this so seriously but these days I can't go through it. I get stomach pain sometimes and got belly fat which is making me look dirty. Due to belly fat I'm thinking of not having food even if am hungry. Which makes me fall due to low BP. Once I had stones in kidney, now they're gone (I suppose) Is that affecting?

If you have a doubt of stone you can consult a doctor again and clear your doubts. For your gas problem avoid keeping long gaps in meal, have your meal in 2-2.5 hrs, avoid food like black chana, white chana, cauliflower and cabbage in night. For your belly fat have a glass of luke warm water and then have a cup of green tea + 5-6 soaked almonds then go for a healthy breakfast like milk + musseli / milk+ wheat flakes (1 medium bowl) / 1 medium bowl of vegetable poha / 2-3 oats idly / 2 besan cheela + mint chutney or boiled egg whites. Then in mid morning you can have a cup of green tea + a bowl of papaya / apple then in lunch have 1-2 multigrain chapati +veg+ salad+ curd then in evening again have a cup of green tea + murmura chaat then have a light dinner like 1-2 bowl of vegetable soup + saute vegetables or a bowl of salad. Do not skip any of your meal.

I have acid reflux problem from last 6 months. Since then I have problem in breathing when I do squats and any other workout which create pressure on my stomach. I have done my heart check up it's completely ok. I am not able to understand what is the exact reason behind this.

U have to improve your food habits do 1. Take 2/ 3 glass of warm water in the morning 2. Take more water in day 3. Take meals at fixed hrs 4. Take small amount of food at a time, take more frequent meals - may be five times a day. 5. No spicy/ fried/ fast/ junk/processed food./ no chocolate 6. No milk for few days, can take curd, no uncooked salad 7. Avoid constipation 9. Do not drink/ store water in bottles. 10 no smoking 11. Reduce weight 12. No alcohol, tea,coffee 13. Dear Lybrateuser, - Your problem could be due to acidity - avoid fried, spicy & junk food, also limit tea, coffee intake to 1-2 cups per day - chew your food well, do not skip meals, have meals on time, have 5-6 small meals rather than three large meals including snacks, do not lye down for 1-2 hrs after meals, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bed time - have 7-8 glasses of water per day for proper digestion & hydration - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, cycling for 20-30 min, also do yoga & deep breathing for 10-15 min daily morning to reduce weight & keep your mind & body fit - take syrup Gelusil, 2 teaspoonful three times a day half an hour after meals - reduce your weight by diet & exercise.

3 Ayurvedic Remedies For Gastritis!

Your stomach is lined with a mucosal membrane known as the mucosa and due to a variety of factors, it may become inflamed. This inflammation may cause a lot of problems and complications which are grouped under gastritis.
Symptoms of gastritis

  1. Upper abdominal pain
  2. Hiccups
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Nausea
  5. Heartburn
  6. Constipation
  7. Reduction of appetite
  8. Blood in the stool amongst the others

The Ayurveda approach

    • Lemon juice is also very effective in treating symptoms or gastritis and also reducing inflammation.
    • Take amla, ginger, and licorice either in a raw form or as a dried option or mixed with other things such as milk or honey. These help in regulating and reducing the acidity within the stomach.
  3. Ayurvedic medications: There are many specialized Ayurvedic medications which can be used to treat gastritis such as:
    • Amalaki choorna
    • Avipattikara choorna
    • Sootashekhara rasa
    • Sukumara Ghrita
    • Dhatri Lauha

Gastric acids are chemicals provided by your stomach to aid digestion. But the corrosive effects they induce are counteracted by the secretion of other chemicals. It is when the secretion of these chemicals is impaired that it leads to damaged stomach lining, causing acidity, also known as acid reflux.

Ayurveda promises some easy home treatments for acidity which are quite efficient in ensuring fast recovery for you. You can use any of these listed Ayurvedic treatments if you suffer from acidity.

  1. Amla powder (Indian Gooseberry) and honey: Soak one teaspoonful of amla powder in half a cup of water. Add honey and stir and drink empty stomach in the morning. Repeat similarly for the evening. 
  2. Cumin seeds: You can reduce cumin seeds to their powder form, then you have to add half a spoon of it to water; presumably, one liter. Then, keep the solution boiling then filter it. You will have to make sure that you drink this solution instead of normal water. Take this water based solution everyday till recovery. This is quite an effective remedy for acidity. 
  3. Mulethi (liquorice) and honey: You can reduce liquorice root to powder, then to half a spoon of this powder add little honey to form paste. Lick to consume this paste twice daily after meals. Liquorice neutralizes the acids quickly to give relief.
  4. White pumpkin juice: Take white pumpkin peel and slice it and make a pulpy juice out of it. Half a cup twice daily gives fast recovery from gastritis and acidity. Alternatively you may eat sweet made of pumpkin (peetha ki methai) after meals. 
  5. Buttermilk: You can take half a glass of buttermilk and add a pinch of each asafetida and turmeric to it. With it, also take care to add a tiny amount of fenugreek and drink it at night, to make the most of its benefits.
  6. Jaggery: You can try taking boiled ash gourd with jaggery. This relieves the burning sensation in the stomach to a considerable extent. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.
