Irrespective of whether your pregnancy test tests comes out positive or negative, I would optimize your Thyroids and other relevant hormones and continue treatment right through pregnancy. I would also like to rule out Autoimmune Thyroiditis. These are important to improve your chances of conceiving and preserving pregnancy.

Firstly, I would recommend that you confirm whether BOTH tubes are blocked by investigations. If one side is patent then it may still be possible for spontaneous conception. If this does not occur then one should consider assisted conception under the supervision of a fertility expert. Irrespective of what type of conception one chooses it is always advantageous to optimize hormones particularly Thyroids, Insulin, cortisol and sex hormones to increase the chance of successful pregnancy and good outcome. This part is where my expertise comes in. Feel free to schedule an audio/Video consultation.

Hi I had total thyroidectomy due to Thyroid cancer Parathyroids were preserved, RAI is done it's been only 2 months. Currently taking Eltroxin 200 mcg, and calcium supplement along with vitamin3 of 2000 mg. I am looking for a good antioxidant supplement which has vitamin C as well. Please suggest a good antioxidant supplement (capsule form) which can be used on daily basis for rest of life. Please suggest.

lybrate-user, you will have more options if you separately take antioxidants and Vit C. Fish oil Omega-3 is a very good anti-oxidant if it has the right amount of EPA and DHA. I would also recommend Curcumin. Vit D3 and B12 also help.

Managing Hypothyroidism to get optimal results is both a Science and an Art. TSH in itself is not a reliable parameter. One needs to check other thyroid parameters as well. Furthermore, in my experience Hypothyroidism is best managed by use of Compounded Thyroids containing T3 as well as T4. Additionally, it is important to balance other related hormones and nutrients to ensure that both endogenous as well as exogenous Thyroid hormones work efficiently. The goals have to be clear defined and one must work towards reaching them. It is important to be aware of the long term risks of hypothyroidism that include subfertility/infertility, miscarriage, gestational diabetes, overt diabetes, Hypertension and other age-related disease. Hence a long term therapy plan is integral to Hypothyroidism.

They report may be within normal biological range for your Clinical Lab, but if you have symptoms then you may need treatment even with "Normal" levels. It is important to understand that "Normal" does not mean "Optimal"

The dose of Thyroid meds depends upon your Lab parameters (Free T3, FreeT4, TSH, etc) and on symptoms. I would recommend a detailed consultation and comprehensive work up if you want optimal results.

Pure organic honey is not bad. Unfortunately the honey available in the supermarket is usually adultrated with sugar which is bad. If you are sure of the source of the honey you may give it to her in moderation. More important is managing her diet and metabolic balance. Appropriate supplements, excercise and positive lifestyle changes equally important.

With so much of TSH variation, I suspect Autoimmune thyroiditis. Thyroid issues along with other metabolic issues, if not properly managed can lead to subfertility/infertility/miscarriage/pregnancy induced diabetes and can even affect the development of the foetus. Treatment for you would not only involve optimization of thyroids but also other related hormones. I follow a very elaborate protocol for this and work closely with the local infertility specialist/center to optimize outcome.

Either this is a lab aberration or you may have autoimmune thyroditis. If you have symptoms such as low energy, weight gain, hairfall, etc or suffering from PCOS, I would advice you to have the same treated appropriately.

Hello is this Thyroid test normal? My endocrinologist said it is normal Free T3 2.9 pg/ml Free T4 1.4 ng/dl TSH 0.94.

Although the lab parameters are normal, I would note that the FT3 could be considered suboptimal. If you have symptoms such as abnormal weight gain, low energy levels, dry skin, hairfall, low moods, etc, I would investigate further for metabolic imbalances and treat the same. This may or may not include Thyroid supplementation. Secondly, in cases of infertility, prediabetes or depression, I would treat with T3 supplementation rather than T4 for a period of time under close supervision.

My comprehensive approach for a case such as yours would be to measure all metabolic parameters and optimize them after corelating the findings to your clinical picture. My preference is to switch to compounded Thyroids that contains both T4 and T3 (Thyroxine contains only T4). I would definitely optimize your vit B12 by giving you SUBLINGUAL vit B12. Many of these meds are not available in India in local pharmacies, hence we supply these through our compounding pharmacy.

Firstly I would recommend that you consult a pulmonologist to asses clinically assess you. In addition to Thyroid parameters, I would optimize all metabolic parameters. I am confident that this approach will help ease your respiratory symptoms in addition to improving your health in general.

I would do a more comprehensive assessment of Thyroid and related hormones. Pimples and irregular periods suggests PCOS. It is important to address the issue early and initiate appropriate therapy in order to preserve fertility and avoid Metabolic disorders in future.

In addition to control of blood sugar levels, I would recommend a more comprehensive approach that will optimize Vit D, B12, micronutrients and metabolic hormones. This will g a long way in addressing your symptoms and preventing long term complications of Diabetes.

I am taking ELTROXIN 100 for the past 2 years. My thyroid profile as on 28-10-2016 is as given below: T3, Free FT3 - 3.31 T4, Free FT4 - 1.36 TSH, Ultrasensitive - 0.599 Please inform the dosage of ELTROXIN per day Regards,

Your Thyroid parameters are good. If your symptoms are controlled with present dose of Eltroxin then there is no need to change anything. If not then your case will need to be reviewed for a more comprehensive and progressive line of approach.

Dear lybrate-user, It is always better to do Free T3 and Free T4 rather than Total. The decision to increase or decrease Thyroid dosage depends not just on the lab report but on the status of symptoms. Other factors relate to status of other metabolic imbalances and the presence or absence of comorbidities. Management of Hypothyroodism should be comprehensive through an elaborate protocol. Prima facie I would say, if your energy leves are good, weight under control and moods quite positive, there is no need to change your present dose of Thyroxine.

Dear lybrate-user, I find it had to believe that your Cousin's doctor is ignorant of her problem. Some drugs used for Diabetes can give gastrointestinal symptons such as vomitting and cause low sugar levels. I am quite sure you doctor is aware of this. I would encourage you to dicuss this aspect in detail with her doctor. If the fasting and PP blood sugar levels are in normal range without antiglycemic drugs the it is quite like you do not need the drugs. Nevertheless, it is quite likely that you could be a pre-diabetic. Your doctor should be able to prescribe lab tests to determine this and treat the same.

Dear Shivani, The fact of the matter is that vit B12 is very poorly absorbed from the stomach and intestine. Tbe best way to optimize Vit B12 level is to take sublingual B12. Compounded Sublingual tabs can be procured from Belle Sante Pharma, Bangalore. The other option is to take periodic intramuscular injections of vit B12

If i am diagnosed with pre-diabetes can you eat right and exercise enough for it to go away?
Eating right and exercise along with positive life style changes is fundamental to management of pre-diabetes, but may not be enough. A more comprehesive approach involves specific treatment to improve insulin sensitivity and balancing of metabolic parameters that includes homones and vitamin optimization.
