Facial Scrubs - Is Too Much Too Bad?

Facial Scrubs - Is Too Much Too Bad?

Everybody is particular about how they look. Skin care has assumed great importance compared to a couple of decades ago. With skin care assuming so much, everybody talks of cleansing, scrubbing, toning, moisturising, what not! What we need to realise is that anything in excess is bad. Talking of scrubbing, it has been promoted as the perfect way to remove dead cells from the skin and keep the skin looking young and radiant. After scrubbing, the skin that is left behind is brand-new with fresh cells from the underlying layers, which glows out. While this is the intention, there are questions to ask in terms of – what to use for scrubbing, how often, ideal products, etc.

Scrubbing can be done chemically or physically. Chemical scrubs include products like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, or citric acid. These remove the dried, dead cells from the top and leave a radiant, fresh skin behind.

Physical scrubs use salts, almond, apricot peel, and tiny beads of microplastics. These microbeads are not just harmful to the skin, they are also not eco-friendly. Though not visible to the naked eye, these microbeads, as the name suggests, are small, tiny plastic beads which act as a physical scrub and help in removing the top layers of the skin. They get into the water as sediments and cannot be removed. When accumulated over a period of time, there is no way to get rid of them. Many products have been banned in Australia and the USA for containing these microbeads.

Another thing to consider when scrubbing is the type of skin. While oily skin can take a little more of the scrubbing load, dry, flaky skin should not be over-scrubbed. Exfoliating agents can be used once in a while, but if you ask a dermatologist if your skin needs daily exfoliation, the answer would be a big NO. Oily skin can benefit from gel-based scrubs, while dry skin can benefit from cream-based ones. If you have sensitive skin, use a mild exfoliating agent. There are multiple products being promoted as daily scrubs which are easy on the skin, but it is best to stay away from these for regular use.

Alternatively, there are multiple regular home/kitchen products which can be used as scrubs. Gram flour, milk cream, lime juice, sugar, oatmeal, ground coffee can be used periodically to get the same scrubbing effects. What is also important to note is it is not just the face that needs the scrubbing. Surfaces with thicker skin like the knees and elbows also benefit from occasional scrubbing.

The mantra is to not overdo it, but go with moderation and get the benefits of scrubbing with a glowing, radiant skin.

Fungal Nail Infection - Causes And Symptoms

Fungal Nail Infection - Causes And Symptoms

Fungal infection in the nails is caused by an overgrowth of fungi in your nails. When the growth of fungus happens on the fingernails or toenails, it is known as onychomycosis or tinea unguium.

Here are the probable causes of why you might get a fungal nail infection:

  1. Diabetes
  2. Problems in your circulatory system
  3. Age
  4. Artificial nails
  5. Swimming in public pools
  6. Nail injuries
  7. Skin injuries surrounding the nail
  8. Fingers or toes, which have been moist for an extended period of time
  9. Immune system problems
  10. Wearing shoes which have enclosed toes

It is also worth noting that fungal infections happen much more frequently in your toenail as compared to your fingernails, this is because of two main reasons. Firstly, that the fungi can grow very easily on your toenails because of the position as your shoes are dark, warm and moist and therefore, perfect for the growth of fungi.

The second reason for more fungal infections on your toenails as compared to your fingernails is because toes have less blood flow than fingers, thus making it harder for the immune system to fight off the infection.

Fungal infections in your nails are one of the easier infections to diagnose. This is because there are several symptoms which indicate you have this condition.

Here are some of those symptoms:

  1. Scaling underneath your skin
  2. White or yellow streaks on your nails
  3. Corners of the nail may crumble
  4. Flaky surface of the nail
  5. Yellow spots at the bottom of the nails
  6. Loss of nail
  7. A nail breaking off from the rest of the nail
  8. An odor from the nail
  9. Brittle or thick nails

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist.

Hi please consult a cosmetic dermatologist for the same but in the mean time use Turmeric Turmeric is an excellent antiseptic and skin-lightening agent that helps minimize scars and other marks. Plus, turmeric can alleviate allergic, inflammatory and infectious skin disorders that make your skin look dull and lifeless. Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder with enough pineapple juice to make a paste. Apply the paste to your face and neck. Leave it on until the paste dries completely. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Follow this remedy two or three times a week to reduce the appearance of spots on skin. Make a paste by mixing equal amounts of turmeric powder and gram flour with a little water or milk. Apply it evenly on your skin and leave it on until it dries. Wash it off with lukewarm water, scrubbing your skin gently in a circular motion. Follow this remedy once a week to lighten your skin tone and remove scars.

She is 23 year old and she had stretch marks in hips and legs. how to get rid from it.

Hi the best thing for stretch marks is to undergo laser treatment at you cosmetic dermatologist. There are some home remedies that you can try ,these are extremely slow acting and you have to be diligent to get results use Castor Oil Castor oil, which is used in the treatment of a number of skin problems such as wrinkles, age spots, moles, dark spots, fine lines and pimples, can also be used to get rid of stretch marks. Apply some castor oil to the stretch marks and gently massage the area in circular motions for 5 to 10 minutes. Wrap the area with a thin, cotton cloth. Using a hot water bottle or a heating pad, apply some heat to the affected area for at least a half an hour. Repeat this process daily for a minimum of one month to notice positive results.

Hi I would suggest you go to a cosmetic dermatologist for the same. In the mean time you can try this treatment at home  Apply some apple cider vinegar Apple cider vinegar (available bat food stores and online) is a powerhouse when it comes to acting as an acne remedy. Why? It kills off the bacteria that may be causing all the trouble in the first place. It also becomes alkaline, and balances the pH of your skin, which in turn makes it harder for bacteria to thrive. To top it off it’s an astringent, like lemon juice, and will help dry up excess oil. Keeping that in mind, don’t overdo and dry out your skin too much. This could cause the sebaceous glands overproduce to compensate, therefore triggering an outbreak. You will need… -Pure unfiltered apple cider vinegar -Fresh water Directions Wash your face with water and pat dry. Using a ratio of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water, dip a cotton ball into vinegar and apply it directly to the blemish. Leave on for at least 10 minutes, or overnight. Reapply several times a day, washing face thoroughly after each time. Make sure to use a moisturizer afterwards as well if you feel like your skin is getting dry.

Plain raw papaya is an all-natural acne remedy that removes dead skin cells and excess lipids from the surface of the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Lipids are a general term for fats, of which oil is a form of. Papaya also contains an enzyme called papain, which reduces inflammation and helps prevent the pus from forming. Hi, Rose water is very good for the skin and this is the way to make it at home. Instructions: 1. The petals must be freshly picked. Pesticides or chemicals should not be used while growing them, which is why it makes sense to use roses that you have grown yourself. 2. Pick flowers two to three hours after sunrise when the morning dew has evaporated. 3. Use only petals, not the stem and leaves. 4. Wash thoroughly to remove bugs and dirt particles. 5. Place the rose petals in a large pot of distilled water. 6. Add just enough water to cover the petals. Too much water will give you very diluted rose water. 7. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer on a low flame. The water should be steaming hot not boiling hot. 8. Allow the water to steam until the petals have lost their colour and the water has taken on the colour of the rose petals. You will see the rose oil floating on the surface. 9. Strain the water and collect in a container. Store it in a refrigerator. It will last longer this way.

Hi here is some information on skin bleaching. Side effects of Bleaching:- 1.It can let to burned skin or irruptions on skin if not used carefully. The quantity of activator must be according to guidelines. 2.Keeping bleach more than 15 minutes can also harm your skin, be sure to remove the bleach from your face within 15 minutes. 3.Bleaching should be done not more than once in 15 days.In addition to this regular bleaching takes away the glow from the face and gives it a pale shade. But not to worry. For regular use you can use homemade facial bleach. While chemical bleach gives you an instant fairness. Homemade bleach may take its time but it can be used regularly and it is safe for use. Moreover homemade bleach will also give you a glowing face. 4.Don’t bleach if you are pregnant or breast feeding your child. As chemicals (hydrogen peroxide or mercury) travel from your skin to your blood and can the fetus. 5.Stay away from sun before and after bleaching. As it will minimise the effect of bleaching. 6.Never bleach after facial. It will take away all your glow. So want to try homemade bleach. Here are some recopies of some homemade bleaches which you can prepare easily at home, are cheap and 100% safe for use homemade bleaches have no side effect at all. .Lime juice and honey homemade facial bleach:- Lime is a citrus fruit and hence has skin lightening effect. Mix lime juice and honey to make a thick facial paste. Apply this paste on your face for 20 minutes. After that rinse your face with cold water. As this is a mild bleach so you have to do this bleach a couple of time to effectively lighten the colour of your hair. But this is a great skin tonic. It will also leave your skin glowing.

Banana and yogurt are nature’s gift to those who are exhausted looking after their skin by spending almost half of their income buying all kinds of cosmetic products. The mixture not only moisturizes the skin, but also exfoliates dead cells. A face pack is prepared using mashed bananas with yogurt to form a paste. Apply this paste on the acne prone skin for half an hour and then rinse off with warm water.

Curry Leaves and Coconut Oil Remedies for hair growth are incomplete without the inclusion of curry leaves into it. Curry leaves are widely used in Indian cuisine for tampering the dishes, but it is also one of the most effective herbs for grey hair that also aids in promoting hair growth. You might have heard your grandmothers say that curry leaves are good for hair. Curry leaves work well, not just by applying its paste to the hair, but also by eating it. Whenever you cook something with curry leaves in it, eat up the leaves! As for coconut oil, its benefits for hair health need no new introduction. It is by far the best remedy for hair loss and promoting hair growth. The fatty acids in coconut oil bind with the hair proteins and protect the hair strands from root to tip and prevent breakage. It seals the moisture in hair by penetrating through the hair shaft and provides protection against pollution and heat.

An exfoliating scrub made by concocting lemon juice and sugar leaves your skin soft and glowing. With a circular massage of the skin with this beauty scrub, rough spots on the face become even. The vitamins C in the lemons is a good astringent that lightens the skin tone, removes patches on the skin and encourages cell growth. Mix a teaspoon of sugar and mix it with juice of half a lemon, use cotton balls to scrub all over the face. Put a jar of it on your nightstand and apply it regularly.

Tomato Juice as Lightening Cleanser Mash half-ripe tomato pulp, mix a tsp of baking soda and a tsp of honey. Mix it well. Gently rub this mixture all over your face and neck. Wash after 5 minutes. It dissolves all impurities from the skin, reduces the production of melanin in the skin, protects the skin from UV damage and gives an oil-free, noticeably light skin tone.

Hi I am 21 years old I am suffering from severe dandruff since 5 years it's not reducing it continuously increasing, ...
How to get rid of dandruff at home? The first step in getting rid of dandruff is daily cleansing of the hair, using a mild and gentle shampoo. In addition to daily shampooing, you could also try a few home remedies for dandruff, which include: Yogurt: Take about half a cup of fermented yogurt and apply it on to your scalp thoroughly. Let the yogurt stay for at least an hour, before rinsing it off with water and a mild shampoo. Vinegar: Add about 2 tablespoons of cosmetic vinegar to 6 tablespoons of hot water and apply the mixture on to your scalp. Cover your head with a piece of cloth and leave the solution on overnight. Wash your hair with warm water and shampoo the next morning. Aloe Vera Gel: Extract some fresh gel from an Aloe Vera leaf and apply it on to your scalp. Leave the gel on for as long as possible, preferably overnight, before rinsing it off. Ginger: Mix some ginger root in warm olive oil and apply it on to your head. This is one of the most effective dry scalp home remedies, which not only gets rid of dandruff, but also nourishes your hair. Please contact for further treatment .You will need medical treatment as well as holistic treatment.

Hi The first step in treating an itchy beard is to understand the cause. The problem of the itchy beard begins when one shaves it. As the new follicles grow out, they cut into the skin and cause severe irritation. This is because some razors are designed to lift out and cut the hairs from deep in the skin. As the follicles grow out, they dig into the skin causing tiny serrations. Hundreds of thousands of these minor cuts can lead to a maddening irritation that makes one want to yank at their face. Another reason behind the itchy beard is dead skin cells. These skin cells are stuck to the hairs as they grow out and end up rubbing against the skin. This leads to a very irritating beard. The other most common cause of the itchy beard is dry skin. Beard hair is usually coarse; as it rubs against the dry, caked skin, it causes a nasty itch. To start home therapy start using a good moisturizer on the face. I would also suggest you visit a doctor to rule out any skin conditions. Regards
