There is the big fancy about hormone injected hens and I do not believe the hormone ,if any given to the hen will not be ejected out in egg. If given, the the so called hormones will only boost up hen's growth and maturation to lay eggs chickens are not fed or injected with growth hormones, they just have naturally increased size over time. So when you see a label that has ?no hormones added? or ?hormone free? just remember that no chicken, at all is hormone free, and no chickens have hormones added to them. The nutrient content of eggs from free-range hens is the same as those from hens housed in production facilities with cages. Egg laying hens are not given hormones. Some egg cartons say that the eggs are hormone free; however, this is true for all eggs in commercial egg production the truth is that no chickens or eggs produced in poultry farms contain added hormones, and they have not been given hormones for decades. Growth hormones are proteins similar to insulin used to treat diabetes. Like insulin, they can only be injected into the body because they are broken down in the digestive tract.
