There are certain circumstances, where the dentist will suggest pulling out our tooth for a good dental health and common good. Some term tooth pulling as an art, where the precision is very important. Only a trained dentist can do the dental extraction treatment. A detailed examination of the mouth is carried out and if a decision is made, then the tooth extraction surgery commences. There are two types of extracting. A simple extraction and a surgical extraction. In a simple extraction, the tooth is visible above the gum line and they are easy to pull using a forceps. In a surgical extraction, an incision is made as the teeth is mostly embedded within the gum and later removed surgically. Both the procedures require local anesthesia to be given to the patient. Numbness and blood clot are the usual symptoms associated after the surgery is done. Painkillers are given to the patients and depending on the pain level the need to use them will be suggested. Do not rinse the mouth forcefully or brush vigorously after the surgery is done. A liquid diet should be taken for a day or two and normal diet can resumed going forward. The pain will subsidize in a day and the stump portion will start healing within weeks. In case of persistent pain even after a week, check with the dentist but these instances will be really rare as modern day tooth extractions are really state of the art and precise.
