The thyroid gland, in the lower front of the neck, releases hormones in the bloodstream that affect almost every part of your body, from your brain and heart, to your skin and muscles. It also controls metabolism which is the process of changing the food you eat into energy. When the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone, it is called hypothyroidism.
Symptoms of hypothyroidism include:
- Hair loss and dry hair
- Dry skin
- Sensitivity to cold
- Decreased heart rate
- Goitre (swollen thyroid glands)
- Weight gain and difficulty in losing that weight
- Persistent jaundice
Hypothyroidism is not curable, but it can be controlled with the right medication. Along with taking your medicines, you can also adopt the following lifestyle changes:
- Eat right: While there is no specific diet for hypothyroidism, you should consume vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats and lean proteins. Since gaining weight is a common symptom of hypothyroidism, eating the right things can help you maintain your weight.
- Regular exercise and Yoga: Exercising and yoga can reduce stress, improve energy and help you maintain your optimum weight. Aerobics (for example, cardio), flexibility and strengthening workouts can help with hypothyroidism. Other than that, light weightlifting, yoga and walking, are also beneficial. Do not forget to consult your doctor before you start on any of these exercises.
- Reduce stress: Hypothyroidism is chronic, and the one thing that worsens chronic diseases is stress. Stress has serious repercussions on your overall health. So it is important to reduce your stress as much as you can. Meditate daily, at least for five minutes, and schedule a weekly massage to deal with your stress.
- Get enough sleep: Fatigue is a symptom of hypothyroidism; you feel tired and sluggish throughout the day. The best way to counter this is to establish a schedule for sleeping. Try to sleep and wake up every day at the same time in the night and in the morning. Generally, sleeping for seven to eight hours is recommended.
I am 39 years old, weight 63.4 kg, height 5 ft 2 inch, and I am suffering from diabetics type -ii, for last 11 years, I had done my medical test on 18/05/2019 - reports are :- fasting blood sugar- 134 mg/dl, post prandial blood sugar -179 mg/dl, hba1c-9.1, spot microalbumin- 79.1%. I am taking medicine - glycomet gp4 forte-1 tab (before breakfast), jalra 50 mg-1 tab (before breakfast) + 1 tab (before dinner). Gp2-1 tab (after dinner), mopaday forte-1 tab (after dinner) telma 20 (after breakfast). 1) how can I lower my micro albumin rate below 20? Which fruits and vegetables can I able to take? Is high protien food (like masoor dal, soybean etc) is good for me or not? 2) suggest me how to lower hba1c?
Hi I am diabetic currently I am talking lingliptan 5 mg and gluconorm g forte 4 mg in morning and gluconorm 4 mg forte in night morning time before lunch or dinner sugar level 130-150 but when I do fasting before medicine it's 180-200 can some one suggest what to do also I am talking bp medicine telwake 40 am hba1c 7.8 thanx.
I am 24 years old female. I have been suffering from frequent bouts of hypoglycemia which arises after exercising or fasting since last 5-6 months. The readings in glucometer have always been from 23 to 57 during such episodes. Eating something immediately relieves the symptoms but tiredness remains for whole day. Please give some advice? Also, I have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis since april, 2018 and I am taking mesacol 60 ml enema 3 days per week since then.
My husband is 45 years old & having high bp, diabetic problem from last 10 yrs. He is taking his medicines regularly & also doing blood test frequently as per doctor's advice. As per last week's report his sugar reading is - 102 (fasting) & 105 (pp). His bp is always in high range of 139/90 even after taking regular medicine hence we are worried for that. Your advice is require please.
Infertility is the incapability of a couple to conceive after indulging in unprotected sex multiple times over a long period. It can also be referred to as the biological inability of a man to cause conception or a woman to conceive as well as being unable to carry the pregnancy for the whole duration. Causes of infertility in include:
Ovulation Disorders – This is regarded as the most common cause of infertility in women. Usually, the initial steps for diagnosing infertility involve a review of the complete medical history of the patients as well as a physical exam. Post this check-up, some diagnostic tests are conducted for infertility. This might include-
Blood and Urine tests: For checking hormone levels.
Pap smear: For checking the health of your cervix.
X-ray: For outlining the internal shape of the uterus so that blockages in fallopian tubes can be identified.
Age – Increasing age tends to lower the quality as well as the quantity of a woman's eggs
Smoking – Besides damaging your cervix and fallopian tubes, smoking increases your risk of miscarriage. It is also believed to deplete your eggs at a premature stage, thereby reducing your chances of pregnancy.
Weight – Normal ovulation is hindered by being overweight or even significantly underweight. This is because lower levels of BMI (body mass index) reduces the frequency of ovulation, reducing the chances of pregnancy.
Even though it is possible to restore fertility in women using only one or two therapies, a number of treatments might be required before conception is possible. Some of these treatments include:
Intrauterine insemination (IUI): deliberately introducing sperm into the uterus of a woman for achieving pregnancy.
Stimulating ovulation with fertility drugs.
Surgery to restore fertility.

It is any form of fertility treatment which involves the handling of sperm and egg. The entire ART team consists of psychologists, physicians, embryologists, nurses and lab technicians.
One common ART technique is In vitro fertilization (IVF). It is a process where an egg and sperm are manually combined in a laboratory dish, followed by the transfer of the embryo to the uterus.
